my container arrived today - what a day.
« on: June 09, 2010, 10:06:35 PM »
Its been a dream of mine for a long time to buy a container of pinballs from OS. So after many months of researching and planning I finally did it.

Its been an amazing journey with high and low points along the way and all worth it in the end.

Big thank you to everybody who have helped me along the way, they include Paul from Perth (great advice mate), Damo, Brad, Gav, Deren and Steve for helping me unload and sharing a great day with me.

pinball are:
T2,
4x WCS94,
3x Getaways,
Blackrose,
Flintstones,
LW3,
Tommy,
Jurassic Park,
Judge Dredd,
Dirty Harry
Dracula

Plus some upright cabinets.

Here is a short video (by Brad) and some picture.

Welcome to the Club, John !

Hard Yakka unloading a container. But you have an instant collection to fill the garage / gamesroom.

BTW - The link to the pictures does not work - but I loved the video !

Thanks Nino - as you know its an undescrible wonderful feeling (as you could tell in the video) seeing a big truck with your container on it.

Planning pays off - I would do it all again.

Didnt realise the hard work involved - Im so sore and tried from unloading and then setting them all up - I need to go to my normal daytime job (in IT) to have a rest.

Hi Brett, I had the choice to pick Addams etc but I wanted to test the 'import process' out with some C level pins with mininal cash outlay in the event something when wrong. Great to learn about importing (beats my boring IT job).

Just out of curiosity, what did the total transportation/import/customs average per machine?

it all depends on how many you buy.

the more can fit into a container the more you save by dividing that by the number of pins you have plus the seller will chip in too with the shipping costs.

It would be interesting to know for this particular purchase what the average cost worked out to for the 16 machines purchased.  If you do not want to disclose, totally understandable.

I have never imported (as I am just starting out), but have been tempted to look at what would be involved in bringing a few in from America.  I realise that is probably a whole different approach (ie. one or two pins) versus bringing in a container.  From what I have read on the forum, there are obviously risks and unkowns when doing it for the first time, and it probably can get costly per machine when bringing in only a few.

Thanks.
