Hey guys,

Small update today - work got the best of me this week, which meant very little playfield work.

Every playfield insert was removed, along with its original screen printed text. These got a thorough clean, and are ready to be re-glued and levelled as soon as i have prepared the playfield.

All inserts carefully removed...

And ready for a wash...

A couple of closeups...

And another...

And another...

I also refinished the underside of the playfield. Plenty of black grime, grease and soot ingrained on this one. Took a bit of work but the results are well worth it.

Before...GRIMEY!!

After...SMOOTH again!!

Today i'm re-installing and levelling the playfield inserts (without the insert decals), and i'll allow the glue to fully cure before my first clear-coat goes down...

I'm still not sure what i'm going to do re the insert decals and lighting. I've seen some really nice results that have been upset by the heat given off by a #44 globe...has anyone used a #47 globe along with insert decals and clear coat with positive results? Or do i go the LED route and bring the game into 2010 with some newer style lighting, which at the same time will eliminate the heat issue altogether?

Any thoughts?

Have a good weekend guys,

Hey Timbo,

Of any game to install LED's for playfield inserts - T2 is a MUST.

Great progress and cannot wait for more photos.

I agree, go the LED's if it suits the insert, otherwise a 47.
Believe it or not LED's don't look good every time.

Hey Tim
Looking good man.  Ive used 47s in most of my older games without anyone comenting on them being dull.  But Leds also look great in some inserts my CFTBL will be a mix of LED and regular bulbs

Thanks for the info guys regarding the LED's. I will probably use a combination of both LED/regular globes similar to the way ddstoys will be doing his CFTBL.

Here are a few pics from today, finished levelling one side of the playfield inserts. Going to be a MUCH better surface to play on now. Certainly not the most enjoyable thing to do but it will pay off in the long run (hopefully  !@#).

I set that light up to get some warm air around the playfield...

Left side...

Left again...you can see where the sunken playfield insert has caused the ball to slowly eat away at the playfield...

Looking great Timbo.

I've used the loctite brand glue which I've had great success with.

Many thanks to Wotto for showing his artwork skills' after i was talking to him at a meet. Sorry not getting back to you Wotto cause my T2 has been bushed back the que. So
Here's some of the mods Im doing to mine. Some of the pix's on image search are great! So I will change the plastic's decals with these images and the back board. The ramps have corney lellowing plastic's above them which will be removed and replaced by small T2 models from ebay and toy shop's eg, T2 skeleton, I also found a cannon from the movie which I will mount over the exiting one.
Here's some eg, pix's for new plastic's and back board.

If you need a space ship I have a new one Im not going to use.
Great job your doing here!

+1 With MartyJ - I too used Loctite brand and seems to be extremely effective.

Not a huge update, but finally got all of the inserts re-levelled.

Just a couple of snaps of the results.

No more bumps...

Another angle...

And overall snap of the playfield now...

Got a call from Classic Chrome in Geelong today...i had been hanging out for this part to be ready for collection. As always, extrememly happy with the work done by these guys. Highly recommended and well priced...

Thats it for a bit, I need to work on a few of the Earthshaker playfield inserts to get that level and ready for its base clear as well...sorry about the delay Nick/Nug!! !@)

There is nothing better than seeing chrome on a nice pinball machine. The handle looks great.

Also, that work u are doing with the T2 is amazing.

No-one on the planet can ever say Timbo mucks around when dealing with a playfield.

You cant get more thorough than that playfield stripdown.

I have a feeling, that this T2 is going to be amazing to say the least.  ^^^ ^^^ ^^^
