Well ive placed my order because i wanted the score coil because i wanted to test the waters of a new order with PBR... i know i will need more stuff but i will order when satidfied with their service and the process (ive heard nothing but good things so it should be cool. Im going to pop that sucker in and see what happens. While i am waiting for the parts i will scratch away at the gulfstream cab and read more. (yes i have read the guides but need to read again and again to absorb it). Its like an alien language to me at the moment but i am starting to notice things a little beeter when i open up the cab.

Too much fun!!!! :lol

Well i ordered 2 of the small coil plus some other parts for the gulfstream. I know i should have made a bigger list but i really dont know what i need.

I know i have have to rebuild a flipper or 2 and 1 of the veri targets defintaley need a look at. My main priority at the moment is to get the machine past tilt and put on the new score reel  !@#

More orders to come but just wanted to get the ball rolling so to speak

Depends - you need to go through the machine...

Schematic, the coin lock out coil, Score reel coil and possibly the Hold Coil..Rubbers ring set, ball and a few tools like a contact adjuster.

Alrighty then!!

Im starting to understand (only starting) how these thing come together and ive had a victory. I forced a start by hitting the start relay manually (screwdriver  :lol) and it moved off tilt!!.

Now my issue is that the motor keeps running. Ive watched (and am watching) top video for EM repair but i dont understand the bit where the motor keeps running and what i need to do.

I feel im really close on this (in between this and the gulfstream im having a ball  %.%) So i need to work out why i need to hit s relay manually to get rid of the tilt and why the tilt comes on after i switch it off and on again.

Also need to find why the motor keeps running and unfortunately im too stupid to understand the TOP video.

Please help!!

Cheers guys!

Rob,

In short this is why: http://www.pinrepair.com/em/index1.htm#reels

The contacts on all the score reels when at zero should all be open, one (or more) of the contacts are closed

Have fun  :lol

EM games by default start at TILT before the first coin is inserted - at least all mine do!

As Tony said in the reply above the motor will continue to run when resetting the game until all the score reels return to ZERO.  As one of your coils is burnt out you will need to manualy set this score reel to zero.  This can be done by pushing in and leting out the coil plunger much like it would do if the coil was operating, do this until it clocks around to the zero position.  Once all reels have returned to zero the motor should stop turning.  If not check the contacts on the score reels that Tony is reffering too.  With the machine turned off if you clock the reels around by hand when it reaches zero you should see the contact open.  This tells the machine it is in the zero position.

Good luck

Agreed - Great advice !

Set the problematic score reel "100"s to zero and it should kick out the ball.

Question because I am curious........if nothing else is wrong, can the machine play/function/ score fine on the good reels, with one burnt score reel coil?

Theoretically - Yes. Just the 100's score reel would never advance and it would have to be set to "zero" or the score motor would continue to run forever !

Ok quick update guys

I took the offending score reel out and advanced the wheel to zero and saw the contacts open. I then started the machine and came up with tilt..bleh so i hit the start relay to override the tilt and Ball 1 lit up yeeehhhhhaaaaaa!!!!!

So i hit the right flipper and the motor advances for as long as i press it (i tried short presses and long presses). not sure how i did the next bit but after a few motor turns i was able to pick up the ball with my fingers and fling it up the playfield.. IT WORKED!!!! i feel im getting really close now!!! Chimes arent working but i can see a wire or 2 not plugged in

So whats left (as far as i can see)

1. Work out why tilt light is still on. Someone mentioned that tilt is always on upon start up and a coin gets rid of it. Unfortunately my coin mech is incomplete so need to work another way of starting the game
2. Work out why the right flipper isnt kicking out the ball on start up
3. Scores not incrementing on any reel and doesnt advance to ball 2 when i drain the first ball

This is exciting stuff and im loving it!!!!!  !*!
