Shansta, I spent a pleasant afternoon scratching my head with Rob over this a while ago, we produced no result but I thought we were making progress?  I reckoned there is a problem around the Q relay - I made some notes on a copy of the schematic that may help. PM me your email address and I'll send them through if you'd like.

Think I just shutdown the optus network in Carrum Downs...  &&

Thank you Nino!  ^^^

Now I just got to figure out which switch to backtrack...  !!@

Anyway - for everyones benefit: Where I am at now!

The Grand Finals were on last weekend, the outlaws came around to watch it - So I spent saturday arvo cleaning switches etc. etc.  :lol

I stuffed around with the 1000's reel (It needs a rebuild - ticks over when you thump the headbox(!))

With the scores not reset ('cause I had the switches wrong) it started from tilt with a ball in the trough - no worries, played out a full game!

When I "fixed" the reel switches so they reset to zero - it goes back to "normal".

Upon pressing "start":

1. If you have a ball in the trough, it steps through all 6 positions of the ball count unit - until game over.

- If you remove the ball as soon as the score motor starts - it stops on ball 1 like it should. If you replace the ball at this point it ticks through all 5 balls and ends the game...

2. When the ball count stops - if you score anything - relay "O" locks in. <-- This is what is NOT happening at step #1.

- You can then drop the ball in the trough, machine resets to ball 2 - and NOW you can use the flippers to launch the ball. Game works as it should until game over.

- I need to find out why the "O" relay is not locking in until you score something?

3. It always scores 1000 when I start a new ball - the 4 switches (2 vari targets & 2 pop bumpers) have been checked.

- So either, it's picking it up from somewhere else - or there is another 1000pt switch somewhere?

- The change from the 100's reel (at 999) to trigger the 1000's reel is flakey and might be related to the above?

So - I have a bit to do.

My soldering station is sitting on the headbox - I keep walking past and looking at the reels...

I know I am going to have to bite the bullet and de-solder the barstard things...  !!!

Take care.

Shane.

Start with adjusting the 100's unit. The "carry over" switch needs to be gapped.

You need the game to reset properly with all score reels at zero.

Had a quick look at this today (So everyone won't hang so much shit on me tonight...)  #@#  !!@

Score reels: The Zero - 9 switches have got me stuffed?

Looking from the top - the 2 left hand switches stay made until metal lever activates on 0.

It then breaks the 2 left hand switches and makes the middle pair and the right hand switch.

The 1000 reel is set like the above - the carry over to 10000 works fine - it does not reset on zero however?

The 10's has the switches set differently to the above? WTF?

- the middle switches stay on, then the arm makes the right hand switch - then swings back and makes the 2 left hand switches - then breaks them and makes the middle 2 again...

So one reel closes the left switches - the other the middle 2 switches - one of them has to be wrong?

There is a wire (Orange with red/white dots) that has been pulled off the 10's reel switches, and bridged across to the 100's reel switch stack...

Might be a good idea to stick that back where it belongs???!

Actually - No, putting that wire back killed it - score motor runs as soon as you hit the power switch...  ^&^

So, dummy spat - pulled the 10pt reel apart and found this:

Bloody wiring - good thing I have the Lucas bottle of smoke to put back in...  :lol

Well the mega thread has to die...

IT'S BLOODY WORKING!!!  $#$ $#$ $#$

Nino was on the money with the score reel switches.

Once I figured out how they are supposed to be set. (They well all originally set slightly differently!).

There was a wiring problem with the 100's reel zero switch being wired to the carry-over switch, which had me stuffed as I was just setting switches visually...  @.@

Once I got serious and looked for continuity from the ball count unit - across all the zero switches - I found the smoking gun...

Nice being able to play a few games with the glass on for a change! Makes it much quieter too!

Now for all the little crappy things like buzzing coils and dirty globe holders etc. etc...  $#$
