the layout are typical for WMS of the era without any of their more fancy featues like up-posts or swing targets

Neat artwork (but all of the WMS EM's have that) and they don't come up too often

AZTEC is a pretty good game to own.. if you are going to own just ONE  70's EM machine then you have 2 choices... drop targets or speed of play.

Gottlieb will give you drops but the games are just so bloody slow that i never touch GTB 70's machines.

Williams went for speed and although they are pretty much a "just knock the ball about" type of game.. they are very fast...

Aztec has a spinner and a kick back.. plus 3 bumpers in close proximity.... Bumpers will be cool... much more SNAP than GTB.

No the targets dont drop, but you still have to hit them and many GTB em's dont reset the drops till youve lost the ball   !@# giving you NOTHING to aim for cos the WHOLE GAME is about hitting the drops... yeh go figure!

Cool game in my opinion.. much faster than a GTB and looks cool too

A fun game with a good theme. Cool layout and artwork. No drop targets, but it should still keep you interested for a while. I rate it under "Space Mission" and "Big Deal" and better than "Little Chief".

They have sold for around $700 for a "working" machine in the past

for me there is only one maker of EM pins
Gottlieb had the best art, well made, very reliable, and lots of drops  ()
Want speed? raise the back legs, then hi tap, or dc the flippers like Spurr does.

LOL!!!!

Sounds like a good starting point for many beers and a debate on the pros and cons of GTB/ WMS 70's machines.
Both manufacturers though made good reliable machines yet both had mechanical designs that bug me... often think if i had this from WMS and that from GTB would be cool!

Best art??? mmmmmmm - VERY debatable that one!

So that leaves drops.....my WMS 64 PALOOKA has drops... is fast too!

LOL!!!!

Funny how Bally EMs don't get much of a mention. Always a Williams VS Gottlieb debate.

I enjoy playing all EM manufacturers, but a good game on Wizard, Nip It, Fireball or Old Chicago is just as good as a fast game on Big Deal (love the shoehorn and DTs) or Sky Jump.

They all have their pros and cons, but I'm really looking forward to playing Mariner, A-Go-Go and Hot Shot !

Definately GTB for best art and use of color, just couldnt ever get into the straight stick-like designs of wms.

GTB did women all curvey and buxom as well  *%*

But happy to sink beers and debate gtb vs wms  %.%

I reckon the following Bally EM's from the 70's rate highly in the backglass art for me.

Fireball
Twin Win
Flip Flop
Aladdin's Castle
Wizard
Capt Fantastic
Old Chicago

I will always rate 70's WMS art over Gottlieb - Christian Marche is one of the most underrated pinball artists of all time
