Memory Lane, any idea what its worth?
« on: September 03, 2010, 10:32:55 PM »
Have a lead on a Stern Memory Lane machine.
Will see it tomorrow, its in a blokes shed. (hope its not home to mice!)
Mate who saw it and put me onto it says it looks OK, apparently it fires up and plays,
but he is not a pinball person.
I believe they are a bit of a rare machine, one on ebay for $3K at them moment.

Anybody be able to steer me in the right direction price-wise?

Or even what it would be worth in good nick.
Thanks guys.
Lets go Brandon!

Memory Lane is not that rare, and for that price ($3000), I'd need a truck to move all three machines. That is a bit rich.

An 8/10 Memory Lane would fetch $1000 - $1300 reconditioned.

"OK" is a bit vague - need to take into account the possibility of backglass peeling near the channel, corrosion on the MPU and any rust etc on the moving parts. Stern parts (plungers and flipper kits) are harder to source, but I have assembled a list of parts that you can buy to rebuild the flippers (Galaxy or Meteor thread).

From the description, I would not offer more than $750. Start at $600.

Definitely not a "rare" machine, and if it was, it is nowhere near $3000.

Very hard to put a price on it but to me I'd pay $1000 if it was in reasonable physical condition and not working.  But I have more fun fixing them

Thanks fellas,
Wasn't trying to put anyone on the spot, just that this came out of left field and wanted an idea.
Thinking I need a Stern again, been a long time.
I'm with you Daniel, if the playfield and BG are in reasonable nick then I like to get the rest of the machine going.
Cleaning and Krylon is as far as I go with a BG, and if there is heavy wear on the playfield I tend to offer bugger all or let it slide.
If I get somewhere I will let you all know.
Lets go Brandon!

Tony from the Pinball Shed sold one last year for $1800 or there abouts.  It was in amazing original condition.

As Nino said.  Not rare.  But I also think that it's not common either.  You'll see a bunch Galaxy's for sale before you see a ML

Forgot to report back earlier.
Mate needs his eyes checked! Backglass has holes the size of 2 bob where the ink used to be.
To top it off, bloke seems to reckon he can get 2K on ebay for it.  !!@

No I didn't get it.
