Strikes and Spares Restoration
« on: September 09, 2010, 06:21:46 PM »
Finally finished my Strikes and Spares, so I thought I'd throw up some pics.
Everything, and I mean everything, has gone through the tumbler and/or been hand polished and/or washed or replaced
Basically, stripped to it's lowest form and rebuilt.
I've logged around 200 hours, at an 'hobby/enjoyment' pace and spent about $800.
ALL connectors and headers replaced

From the bottom up......
News legs, bolts and brackets
Cabinet, stripped, patched, prepped and repainted inside and out, new side rails. (used stencils from BAA)
Coin door rebuilt, with new panel, (stolen off my EBD, waiting for a second hand one, still need a couple of coin mechs) wired a credit button to coin reject.
Chimes, new grommets and coils
Playfield, (I touched up and clear coated this 14 years ago, still going strong) so it just got stripped and re polished, I replaced the bumper caps, guide rails and acorn nuts too.
Actually the reason I bought S&S was to practice a touch up and clear coat before tackling Firepower.
Playfield underneath, pop bumpers, slings and flippers rebuilt (also stripped and tumbled), replaced a few dodgy lamp sockets, cleaned the rest.
Backbox, stripped, patched, prepped and repainted.
Score display board repainted

As per Clays Pinrepair guide...
I rebuilt the Power Supply
Repaired corrosion on MPU, and upgraded
Upgraded Solenoid/Driver board
Upgraded resistors on the Score Displays

I not allowed to post more than 3  pics up here but have added quite a few in another local aussie forum......... #@#

Mate, that machine looks absolutely beautiful. I bet it has been restored to better than new. Man that looks good.

It makes me think just how nice these machines must have looked when new.

I like the yellow colour, very nice. I think it would be the best strikes n spares around today. Excellent work.  Beautiful machine, classy 4 sure  ^^^ ^^^ ^^^
