Recel Coils
« on: October 10, 2010, 10:21:24 PM »
Guys,

Does anyone know if Recel coils can be substituted into any other machines?  I have got a stack of them in the haul of parts I just got and they are too good to just be thrown out.

I've heard they are the same as Gtb coils but is anyone able to confirm or deny this?

Cheers,
Talby

Recel pinballs were made from SOME Gottlieb parts, but not all. Are the coils labelled with part numbers ?

Vast majority are labelled and those without wrappers I should be able to match to the other coils that are wrapped.

Here's an example of a few.

At a guess ;

"C40-800"

"C" - is the type of coil - small, large, where the terminals are located
"40" - Gauge of the wire
"800" - Number of turns

Keen to see what others think.

40 gauge would be incredibly thin, too small I would think for a pin application?

I've used a few in Gottliebs, I just measure the resistance.
