Are GTB baseboards the same?
« on: November 29, 2010, 10:28:31 PM »
Hi there

Firstly a potentially stupid question.

Are baseboards for GTB's from a certain era the same?

I bought a Royal Guard in pieces a few years back and am beginning to try and tackle it.

However when I began to cross-reference the relays on the baseboard and the ones on the schematic they don't match.

My question is, are the baseboards the same such that these letters won't matter and if not, can anyboady help me with this baseboard.

The relays are in a bit of a mess as the cotter pins are missing however

one the left relay bank, they are lettered (top to bottom) T, R, (missing), S, W
On the right bank they are lettered Q, H, G, O, V (which is a double relay).

Thanks for your help

Ric

They perform the same  generic functions - Bonus unit, ball count unit, hold/tilt relay etc etc - But there are game specific parts that are not interchangeable - A good example would be the cam on the score motor assembly and the arrangement of the switches on the score assembly.

Thanks for the replies.

I had a feeling that was the case and that they weren't just interchangeable but I thought I should get the stupid question out of the way first.

Any help would be appreciated. This is a full resto job so whilst I expect some surprises along the way, it would be nice to know I have all the right pieces to start with.

I have a problem

The baseboard I have posted is not a Royal Guard base board - Actually I am not sure what game it is from or if it is even complete.

If anyone has ideas, that would be great.

Thanks

Ric

Looks to be complete. I'd say a single player Gottlieb, could be from any number of themes.

it is a mystery

Most wedgehead baseboards I have seen seem to have the large relay bank where the bare area in on the left

Thanks for everyone's help

Look for a part number on the cam. It might be stamped on the top disk. This part number should be unique to the game. It looks to be an early GTB wedgehead.
