LEDs in playfield GI.
« on: April 21, 2011, 04:29:46 PM »
Thought I'd try out some LEDs in my Jurassic Park.

Replaced a handful of lamps on the lower playfield G.I.  Used a mixture of cool and warm super brights to try them out.

They certainly look nice and bright and give the playfield a clean look, but I notice that the ball motion is a bit hard to follow around this area now.
Seems like the LEDs are strobing, even though they appear to be pretty steady when the ball isn't around.

Is this normal with LEDs?  Are different LED types any better?
At this point I'm thinking that I will change back to incandescent bulbs as I really don't like this effect at all. ^&^

They look like they are strobing because the G.I. circuits are A.C. this is normal.
