Does anyone have a Lyman tumbler

Hi all

Just wondering does anyone have a Lyman tumbler for polishing pinball parts?

What model do you have - 1200 or 2200?

Are you happy with it?

Any recommendations?

I am gearing up for a restore and this is one item that I would like a little info from anyone using one.

I have two Lyman tumblers - a 1200 Pro and the slightly bigger 2500.
Very happy with both, had the 1200 about 4 years and the 2500 about 1 year.
Run with crushed walnut shell in the 2500 and corn cob in the 1200, both with a good shot of liquid Autosol - which brings the same results as Flitz or Fliz whatever it`s called, but far cheaper.
The main thing to remember is that tumblers are not cleaners, they are polishers so will not remove built up grime & crap like that.
Anything metal that will fit gets thrown into the tumblers for about a day.

Hey Bud,

I do have a 1200 Pro. To be honest I have not used it yet for pinball hardware but she works a treat on empty rifle cases. Media (corn cob) does get pretty soiled with gunpowder residue and case lubricant but I guess ramps and the like will be carrying their fair share of grime as well. I dont add any polishing agents either (because I am not sure what to use) and tumble overnight before and after case resizing. Beautiful results.

I have the 1200. works great. the only problem i have with it is some times the corners of larger items get caught in the slots in the lid so they end up staying in the one place. other than that its great.

Thanks heaps for the feedback. I ended up buying one:

Local gun shop was selling the Lyman 1200 for $159 and Lyman 2500 for $179. But I ended puchasing a Lyman 1200 off a gun guy on ebay, brand new for $105 with 2lb of corn media. Here is the ebay add for anyone interested in getting one.

what can you use them for?
is it worth it?
what size parts do you use in it?
how big is it?

I haven't used one before, but read guys polish up ss small parts mainly.

The 1200 is about 25cm in dia and about 9cm deep with a bolt up through the centre. So small parts just sit in there with the media and run for I think a good 6-8 hrs.

Apart from that I am just going to learn by trial and error.

good idea. i was sort of thinking of doing something like that as i was writing my post. Don't ask me why i didn't think of it before though.
