Getaway Top Jet Bumper Difference
« on: May 16, 2011, 09:56:17 AM »
Hi All,

Got a bit of a Question to all the Getaway owners out there,

The top Jet bumper on mine seems to have a longer spring holding the skirt up,

which makes it far less sensitive to balls entering from the top ramp area,

it realistically only fires once one of the other Jets fire the ball into it.

Im wondering if this is a design thing to stop the ball being fired Up into the ramp and back board possibly causing damage,

or someones just repaired it at some stage with whatever spring they had in the toolbox.,

The manual doesnt list any differences in the springs for jets,

but I have found the manual to be wrong on a few things already, maybe a 2 generation change like the hinges etc?

Whats yours have ?

I recently restored my HS2, they definately all had the same springs, you also need to check and adjust the spoon that the skirt 'dick' sits in so the contacts close with minimal movement.
Sounds like someone lost the spring and put an incorrect one back in.

Unsoldered the Bumper lampholder and removed the whole assembly,

looks like its had some repairs in the past the lampholder legs had been cut and resoldered in 3 different places,

and the bumper body was melted and distorted not allowing it to sit down at the proper height.

So replaced base and body with a good S/h one I had laying around,

new spring and lampholder reset the contacts works like a champion now!  ^^^
