How good does that look! Did you make any contact with Randy about it?

Nice very nice. Wouldnt it look great on all DMD pins I think.

Man lets hope that is affordable when and if it does come out.

Cool.

Notice the only footage is in a AFM - I suspect the DMD driver software has to be rewritten??? It certainly looks great!

That video of the AFM display was nothing short of amazing!! I've emailed Randy to place me on any mailing list, it's the one mod I **would** do to my AFM!

Was wondering how long it would take...

This wont be cheap and yes driver software will have to be altered.
This is pixel RGB LED and would only require a 5V supply. Higher the pixel definition the higher the cost, also brighter the display, higher the cost.
Each pixel has its own driver.. this could be one LED wide or 3 or 4.
Its the same technology that you see as a back drop on a stage these days.
I too sell a similar item.. mine is 3 LED pixel and high light output 50/50.

Yes... it is bloody cool!

Heres a short clip of mine.. this display is 1000mm X 600mm

I understand that it's a 'color DMD' while it's in the USA but does it morph into a 'colour DMD' when it arrives in Australia much the same as a airplane that takes off in America  arrives in Australia as an aeroplane?

thats why i have always liked the Pin2000 monitors of Revenge from Mars and Star Wars Episode 1, HEAPS OF COLOUR UP THE BACK instead of boring orange.

technology should make the colour dmd cheap $, but i bet it wont be due to the time with software for each and every title to be set up.  !@#

great to see the pinball industry moving forward. theres going to be some great looking pins out there soon. its a wonder Stern hasnt done it yet.  #@#

mmm, i wonder how it works, it would definately need all new roms and proberly a extra board, looks interseting but they wont do all machines if they need to make new roms! maybe they will pass it to stern to compete with jersey jack... $#$ $#$ $#$ The pinball war is returning!!! $#$ $#$ $#$

Each clip/ image is stored as FLASH... this is then decoded by a DMX controller and fed to the LED display.
Standard use is to have your files stored onto SD card for these, but can be ROM of course. The game then chooses which program to run.

So essentially, it works exactly the same, except a DMX decoder is required.

The individual drivers for each LED will push the price up... single controlled LED display is expensive

Definitely an enhancement, but the price will be a key factor as to the take-up rate, I imagine.

Interested to see what the price would be, and what other mods need to be made. That being said, I'd still get some for my top line pinnies  $#$

COOL  ()
There is talk about these being used on the next Stern, Transformers.  Interesting to see if it goes that way or to a LCD monitor.
All change due to competition from JJP of course, a little competition is a great thing, we are now moving forward again
