Price Check AFM
« on: July 02, 2011, 10:21:14 AM »
any opinions on a price for an AFM with the following :

playfield appears to be in very good condition with the only wear that I can see is the stroke of luck outhole, you can just see the wear with a cliffy protector over it
cabinet has bad fading with pretty much all the color faded, other than fading the cabinet appears to be very good with only a couple of light scratches
ramps & transite look good
the game has been shopped & sold by a dealer
the game plays well & everything appears to be working as it should

overall it looks to be in pretty good condition

so any ideas on a fair price ?
any other things I should be checking ?

Thanks

Depends on the dealer an how they have shopped the game. Was it done properly or just the usual nifty and flipper kit only?

Given it will need decals for cabinet, in the current market I would think around $6500 to $7000 max. Cash in hand would put you in a better position as I reckon things are very slow at the moment

$4500 to $5000 maximum if the machine needs full cabinet decals and if it has wear.  If you purchase a full set cabinet decals, and pay someone to fit them properly, the machine will owe you $5500/$5800.   My opinion is that the nicest of nicest AFM is only worth $6500, 7 grand if u just have to have it.
* For similar money, you will pick up a Monster Bash, Medi-Evil Madness etc. Alot of the so called A grade titles have slipped back in price because so many of them have been imported in containers over the last 18 months.

I saw a friend buy an immaculate AFM 12 months ago and he paid $5500 and it was Home use only. The last one auctioned on ebay went for $5300.The market has slowed.

while I dont want to know who the dealer is,
whats he asking for it????

because I would expect in todays market to pay between 5500 - $6000 for a AFM

befofe the GFC  these were only going for  upto $7000 tops (maybe 8000 with cab art and new pf's installed)

go back and negotiate hard.  in this economy, any pinball seller would be foolish not to accept 6 grand or something close.

Overpriced in today's market. Dealer pins have dropped in standard considerably due to the overall quality of what is left overseas (Europe especially), and the corners cut in the "workshops". $6000 would be the price of a properly reconditioned game - no more than that in today's economy. They are getting hard to find in good condition.

I doubt you'd get a dealer game much under $7K, and while I consider this the greatest ever DMD game (IMO) and love mine, I would expect a nice collector game around 5.5K - $6.5K should turn up with patience (and a lot of patience as few collectors will part with this game once owned). Member sold one around 6.5K last year.

Unfortunately you pay a premium price for a 'dealer' machine. Personally I'd be on the hunt for a private machine that needs a bit of work and wouldn't pay above the $2500 to $3000 mark. Great pinny to play.

If you find two at that price let me know, I'll grab it as a spare!!
