Why doesnt this sell?
« on: July 15, 2011, 07:13:02 PM »
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/dealers-choice-pinball-/260816079006?pt=AU_CoinOp&hash=item3cb9d9889e

Buyer wants $800.. is not working and missing one plastic.
Buyer paid $600 for a BG sometime back ( oops.... man thats a big price to pay!),
But i see its had 2 offers, both declined.

Game is not a classic by any means, but it is in not too bad a shape.
If anyone here has made an offer on this machine... would you care to share the price offered?
There was a time... not too long back when this would have been snapped up at $800... but it keeps getting relisted with no sale.
remember a year ago project machines were fetching $1000+ on Ebay... my how the tide has turned!

It is a good 1.5 hour drive from the north of Melbourne, add more for other suburbs.

And yes, I think there is less money out there and more pinball machines, so the people who are still buying them can afford to be picky.

That's really sad, gone are the days when *any* machine under $1k would ALWAYS sell, no matter what it was....

I'm about to list a Gottlieb Drop-A-Card, although i'm in 2 minds now, i might be stuck with it ;-(

Maybe you have to take his x-wife with the machine. She might be buried inside still. Seems like a good deal at $600 or $800 if u like this era of machine.

Maybe for $1500 someone can buy a good DMD.   Market is flooded like Noah's Ark.

At the end of the day it is still a project game, and it is not exactly a sought after title. Williams EMs of this era are not really collectible unless they are fully restored. Bid Deal, Space Mission and Aztec have been on eBay recently and they don't fetch high prices (at projects). I would not pay $500 for a project Williams from this era. However, I've had no trouble selling restored Williams EMs. My restored Big Deal sold for $1400 - so there is a market for Williams EMs, but unless it is a Klondike/Jackpot or similar, it is not going to fetch a high price. All EM project games have dropped in price, but Williams is the poorer cousin. How much did the project "Captain Fantastic" sell for - over $1000 missing a backglass ?

The demand for Bally EMs - 1970 to 1977 is huge at the moment. I'd have to say that Bally has "overtaken" Gottliebs in terms of desireable titles. I had a feeling this would happen around 3 years ago.
