Simply beautiful LEDs look great in this game. Try a purple LED flasher in the basement, really has a great effect. Are you going with the Gold Spinning saw?

Toying with the idea, and I've seen some really nice machines with the gold chains on the trunk. I'm not really "into" too many mods, as it can take the attention away from the game. But I might look into either the Saw or Trunk mod.

The "Haunted Basement" is another key mechanism that must be working 100% to fully enjoy this game. It is a fairly involved mechanism that I will strip and rebuild. When inspecting this machine, I noticed that the main large bracket had been broken, and a "band aid" repair was holding it together. The mechanism "worked", but not 100%. My plan was to repair the bracket professionally, and luckily MartyJ came to the rescue !

Here is a couple of photos of the assembly removed from the machine.





You can clearly see the "repair" at the end of the bracket. It is an "L" shaped piece of aluminum that is riveted in place. I've removed the bracket in the next picture ;





I gave the bracket to MartyJ who was kind enough to have it TIG Welded for me. He did the same for a recent Addams Family I restored as well. Very happy with the repair, and if you notice, you will see an improvement with a extra weld at the corner of the bracket to give the bracket more strength.








The entire assembly is stripped, cleaned and adjusted. Coil sleeves replaced.

      This is one mech that always needs lots of attention nothing worse than waiting 3 or 4 attempts for the ball to be returned

Thats an awsome mech isnt it mine works great but it comes down with such a thud not sure if thats the way its designed to come down, love this thread well done great work.

It is always difficult to find someone who can small repairs like this properly. Marty takes pride in his work and know I'm going to have a professional repair done. It is a lot cheaper than buying the complete assembly - which would have cost me US$70 = Shipping out of the USA.

The "thud" should be cushioned by a grommet at the end of the plunger. You can see the grommet in the last picture. When the game is finished you are welcome to drop by for a game and compare "thuds" !

Sounds like a great idea. When I'm happy with the LED placement / type I will post a "guide" of sorts. The backbox has been done and looks amazing. I'll be doing more testing tonight - might even sneak in a game or two !

I did have to do some touchups, grinded whole playfield to dull and now waiting for inspiration to get it CC'd. And for that basement-assembly, when comparing to mine, that's like new :) Luckily I have quite good connections to metal-industry, I can have almost any metal piece repaired/remaked quite easy and cheap. I can post some pictures when done, here you can find some pic's so far. Oh, btw. I'm putting this one out on location for play when done, that's why it's not so important that PF is mint. And CC will increase playability (=most important thing!) and give more time to machine to survive "in the wild". And sorry for jumping in to your topic.

Tensikka - Thanks for the kind words. My clear advantage is that I started off with a REALLY nice machine that didn't need major work. I saw your machine and from the pictures, it looked like it had a hard life. That would be an interesting restore to document - I'd like to see how well the game looks after restoration.
