Ah LEDs on a theatre of magic really brings the game to life. Nice work mate. Did you put a Colour changing led on the tiger saw insert? That looks sweet too

No color changing LEDs yet. Although I honestly don't think it needs anything else at this stage. Multiball is a blast with all the lights on and the balls running around the playfield. I can see why DMD collectors install LEDs in their machines. Cool feature, but I don't think they should be used in all games. ToM and CV come to mind and maybe Scared Stiff. I might do a full LED on a ST TNG in the resto queue.

CV will be the next full LED machine.

Update on the game - It is basically finished. I just have to install some shop out decals. The legs have been polished, new leg levellers and leg bolts installed. To really give the extra bling, I've installed a new DMD display as the other one was shoowing signs of becoming "out gassed". I'll have the pictures of the finished game up soon.

Cheers mate - but your advice on the LEDs (type and placement) has set this title right off - so you deserve some credit as well. Thanks for your help and I will post a breakdown of what LEDs were used in this game.

Don't worry mate - Buccaneer is finished, and I've made some progress on the Fathom. I see DMDs as a "break" from the EMs and SS. I have a few surprises in the SS resto queue - don't worry !

The game is completed and was purchased by the astute collector who reserved the machine when I commenced the process. Won't be in the garage for much longer, so here are some pictures of the completed machine (below).

All parts were purchased locally from www.rtbb.com.au - including the new centre ramp, which is a perfect fit and replaced the aged original. I didn't want to repair the old ramp, as the reproduction ramps offer great value and are constructed much better.

All LEDs were all bought from Greg as well - and if I get time I'll post a guide so other can experiment. Almost all globes are LEDs - and it does make a HUGE difference. Thanks for your time Greg, I think it came up alright  ^^^

Extra plastics for this game were bought from Curly who luckily had all the broken original plastics. Other parts were brought from PBR.

Special thanks to MartyJ, who repaired the Basement bracket. It is now re inforced, so it is BETTER than the original. If you need any metal rework (TIG) then you will find him here - http://aussiepinball.com/index.php?board=90.0

Here are the final pictures of the game before it is delivered to its new owner ;

Hope you all enjoyed the journey !

I agree, the NOS Williams ramps aren't worth it by a long shot if the repro ramps Greg keeps are available for the game. I've had these ramps from Greg for a few games - AFM and FH come to mind - huge improvements over the originals both in material and strength. My biggest regret with FH was I was given an original Williams NOS Steps ramp and used that - really looks like the poor cousin on the game.

I'll grab the old caliper and do a comparison. If the repro ramp for a particular title is availble, it is a small price to pay to ensure the game looks and plays 100%. The first thing I noticed on this title was the middle ramp shot was smooth.

Thanks for the kind words, guys - The game is going to a good home  ^^^

Thanks for the kind words guys, always a pleasure to document my restores and reconditioning efforts. I must say I've really enjoyed this machine and it will be leaving on Sunday to an astute collector who wants more games  ^^^
