Aussie Pinball - 2012 Calendar
« on: October 16, 2011, 09:33:54 AM »
Hi all

I thought I would start a poll because of another members question of a 2012 Pinball Calendar. I have done calendars for myself through Apple which are very good quality (thick cardboard type paper with a spiral binding) for minimal runs. It allows entries to be made for any date of the month - eg public holidays, pinball shows etc.

I liked the idea and thought why not at least offer to collect photos off members and collate into a calendar for next year. I know it takes Apple 4-6 weeks to print so would need to have photos supplied by end of October if not earlier as would like to send to Apple by the end of the month (Oct) so we can all get a Xmas present.

I checked on the iPhoto link and cost is:
$26.99 for calender
$7.69 for freight (as mine were printed in Germany last year and USA the year before).
so $34.68 per calendar.

Note: if the cost for 10 or more is cheaper I will refund everyone who pays for one the difference.

But this calendar can't work without the team effort of the Aussie Pinball members - as I need photos of members pinballs, back glass's, sheds shots, yesteryear photos. So was thinking at least 30 - 40  decent photos to be supplied. Of course was thinking the AP logo be used with admin's approval, some add logos from the guys offering their services.

So place your post of where you sit and if you can leave a remark attach it or PM.

And, no I get no cut, just purely out of interest.

I like the idea, but maybe you would be better planning for 2013 and give yourself time to come up with good photos

I like the idea as well but for $34.68 - I don't think so!

I could probably get them printed in China for a few dollars each

valid point Homepin, that's why I didn't want to launch into it.

I went into iPhoto to investigate a little more:
26.99 each for a calendar and then the postage is the same for one or 20 units there for for 20 calendars the unit cost is $27.40. Then aus post to each person is approx $5 but would have to check, so still around the $33 to $34 to your door.
As for delivery apple need a few weeks for xmas cards but calendars I would have to the end of Nov to submit to Apple at the latest.

Not everyone's thing but just putting it there, so place your votes / support.

I have asked my China office to get a quote and MOQ from our printer. This place does brilliant work on translucent plastic as well as outdoor sticker vinyl and practically any material. They have two HUGE HP machines, a bit like the Rolands that seems to be more popular in Australia but larger (I think they are 3 metres wide?).

I think the idea is SENSATIONAL.  ^^^ Personally, I dont care if it costs $35 etc cause we are not talking sheep stations and it is a one off type of deal.
If Mike or someone can work with Swinksy and do it and somehow save money, its a bonus etc, but not a deal breaker.

The only thing, is that a calendar dates easy (no pun intended  %.%)  so a collection of photos printed of members machines and pinballs is a great idea what ever format it is put into. I guess when the year is over, you can always just keep the pictures. I have always wanted to take photos of all my machines with a beautiful gold coast model in a bikini standing in front of them (or a few girls) , maybe even topless tasteful pictures etc, but it is expensive to hire a professional photographer and girls dont come cheap. (no jokes here  *)*)

A calender or a collection of member photos is a great idea. Personally, I would like to see a whack of members mug shots taken with their favourite machines or collections etc. Always great to meet the person behind the Avatar. It would be great to see everyones mug with their favourite titles and a small write about how long you have been collecting, favourite machines etc, like a small resume with great pinny photos. The calender or whatever you want to call it sounds like a great idea.

I would be happy to take a whack of different photos of all different DMD machines. What about someone putting together a whack of member video clips etc of their collections. The great ideas here are endless and all great for our T'riffic hobby.

I think the idea is brilliant,  but I agree with Pete - Maybe aim for 2013 - that gives time for photos etc and ensure that the job is not too rushed. Keep the ideas / suggestion coming.

Here is a photo from a 1987 machine that was released. Not a bad picture to add to a calender or for a pinball T-Shirt !   && &&  ^^^ ^^^ ^^^
