• $950 bonus will be paid to eligible taxpayers with a taxable income of up to and including $80,000;

• $650 bonus will paid to eligible taxpayers with taxable incomes exceeding $80,000 and up to $90,000; and

• $300 bonus will be paid to eligible taxpayers with incomes exceeding $90,000 up to and including $100,000.

In addition, eligible single income families will get a $950 bonus from Centrelink, and there will be a $950 back to school bonus per child for eligible families receiving Family Tax Benefit Part A, a learning bonus, as well as $950 bonus for struggling farmers receiving exceptional circumstances income support.

OK OK - hang on a minute.

I earn under 80k........ so I get $950.00 ??
My wife works, she earns ( WELL ) under 80k ......she gets $950.00 ??

We have 2 kids and we do recieve FTP - part A..... so we get ANOTHER $1900.00 in back to school allowances ?????

There could be NO WAY thats possible.

That's what I'm thinking mate. I'll believe it when I see it (in my hand).

Watching Kevin and Wayne plunge the country into deficit with vote-buying as oppsoed to sound economiic judgment is really disturbing

Why don't they just keep printing money - Zimbabwe style!

It is time the Labor government relaised that Australia is following the world into recession and retail therapy is not the answer

it shows the coalition have the balls to call Kevin on this one

It will actually generate some debate on the actual merits of this package as opposed to throwing money at a problem and hoping it goes away

Also got the brochure today explaining how we can claim back to school expenses for kids this financial year !

You can claim Internet charges, laptops etc  ( we actually bought em a laptop at Xmas ) etc etc - with 2 kids I can claim up to $2250.00 - and with the laptop, Internet charges and general other back to school expenses I will come very close to that  #@! - this is all up and above the past and current cash handouts - its insanity

Wotto,

Don't think it would be $2,250

$750 for each child undertaking primary studies (i.e., maximum refund of $375 per child, per year); and
$1,500 for each child undertaking secondary studies (i.e., maximum refund of $750 per child, per year).

Yeah , no sorry....I meant I can claim up to that amount as I have a child in each category and obviously depending on the ( wifes ) tax rate/ tax paid etc we would get SOME of that claimed amount back.

Still, for someone that NEVER gets tax back , anything will be good.

I concur...

Government gets 30% back through taxes if people choose to waste their benefit on gambling etc..

figures out today show that the most of the last "bonus payments" went to credit card debt reduction

This remains a stupid idea that will f uck the economy and this country royally
