Working pinballs (dmd's) like arcade games will always be worth as much money as they can make onsite when operated. They are a cheap thrill especially when money is tight. IMO $1400 for a working dmd is a good buy regardless of title & from experience I found some of the gottlieb the most reliable. 

Now - right there, is the biggest load of BOLLOCKS I have EVER read!!! Reliable and Gottlieb (when talking about SS machines) NEVER go in the same sentence!

System 3 games are by far the most reliable of the DMDs. I think that's what Johnny meant 

Anything before the System 3 platform - I agree with you Mike - the most unreliable games ever made. Still, I'm looking forward to playing my GTB Spirit and Haunted House soon !

Good quality pins are still selling and will continue to do so. There are plenty of ppl out there prepared to hand over
lots of $$$ for the right game.

Prices on pinball machines are like any other ‘collectable’, the price will rise and fall

I think we have been through a period where people were expecting to sell their games for super silly prices, but those machines are not selling for as much at the moment.
After all, it is a wooden box filled with 15-20yo technology

The machines I own, I own because I enjoy the game, not for its perceived dollar value

yeah if it was up to todays tecknolgy we couldnt fix the ...

I'm seeing a lot of examples where today's tech is being use to fix Pinballs.
Homepin's replacement boards.

There is a company in the US that will be show casing their products that replace old parts tech
and will be on display as CES.  Power supplies, sensors...  Lights.

Leds are replacing old bulbs including the 44 and 47 (which can give off to much heat)

New tech is making way for new pins.  I expect to see a lot more on offer.

Exciting times.
With increase in supply and using new tech.  I expect the price to drop.  (even if on resell)
