I'm with cavey here mate all the way, that looks like walking the plank to me.
Wh20 is a far better game than black rose anyway imo....but at the end of the day it's your call and I wish you well with whatever you choose.

daz, you saw my ww  machine down at your local dealer b4 i became owner!
it was apiece of shit!

i will put up pics when i learn how.
the machine has come a very long way, have spent many hours, but very satisfing!
all on a very tight budget

did you ever pull apart your upper playfield yr ww?
mate, seriously, a big big job.seriously complicated pinny.
with the job ive done on ww( with much help from stevecee!)
i feel little confident to do another one.

Too much effort imo.

The one on Ebay I have seen is a complete wreck and already well over what it is worth. The cannon assembly (the **only** fun thing about this game) is some sort of hack replacement. I am not certain there are any proper replacement assemblies around, Nug did source  repro for his but it was terribly made. The playfield needs more than minor work, and there are lots of other broken bits visible. Add to that the seller hasn't tested it, who knows what works and does not - you might have board problems and need a new DMD for example. At the price its at now (over $700) you only have about that much again before you start to hit its working value, and I can see more to spend than that already just from the photos and guessing what else is not going to be in good condition judging by the harsh life its had.

Gameplay on this title is average anyway. It's getting more love these days as people spend more time looking at older games with the lack of new ones, but it is a very average machine.

Best of luck...restoring pins takes up precious playing and drinking time imo.
Some people are very good at it...not me.

I agree. The playfield has more than "a bit of wear" and it is already an expensive project (why do people bid so high?). It can be restored, but it looks like it will need extensive playfield work (or replacement) and it will need a cannon assembly and the other parts mentioned in the auction. I'll bet the DMD is faulty or dead as well (common on untested machines).

Have to disagree with this (although i know pinball is a very personal preference thing), as its one game that i absolutely love - the sound is great, and while the gameplay is not overly deep, i find it much much more enjoyable than other 'shallow' games such as Getaway and Fishtales.

I'm a bit like you carnut, in that i love doing the restoration stuff, but i tend to agree with others that this is probably up over what i would be prepared to pay for it.

DMD $220
Canon (if you can get it) + decals $150 - $300 (no idea - maybe more?)
Board repairs - maybe just time if you can do them, otherwise up to $200 - $300
All the SINK SHIP letters have pretty obvious outlining around the inserts, plus the wear in the main part of the playfield that you look at - this is not really a touch up, but a full on job to rebuild the area - plus it is prone to more wear if the cannon is not adjusted properly (people say this is hard but i've had two Black Roses, both were easy enough to adjust)
Plastics if you wanted a new set
Cab touch ups

If you are keen, go for it as it will be an extremely rewarding process.

But i reckon you are better off looking for the same title in better condition (if the pf and cannon were good on this particular machine i would prob go up to $1300)

Good luck

100% agree, it is a very personal thing. But there's no way this is an above average game, so not sure which bit you are disagreeing with. It is fun (what pinball isn't?) but very much average fun.

If you want a challenge (I've taken a wreck like this back to neat) this one seems to have it all!!  <.>

got to agree with Nick all round. The machine isnt the worlds most exciting but it is still fun with good artwork, good audio and a unique look. I like the headbox shape and this era of Bally games.

its currently sitting at $700 plus for a piece of fire wood. Expensive firewood. There are restores, and there are mission impossibles. This is the later. No playfields are avail so this would be a very expensive exercise if someone ever took it on. Find another really nice one for $1200 to $1800. You can still enjoy the restore, but you end up with a really nice example which is saleable, and well worth keeping. Would look the goods with Leds'  ^^^

well i missed the end of the auction.
the new owner payed just over 700.

i really do appriciate the input you guys have given!
damn shame i cant justify a nib purchase!

this machine is looks way better than my whitewater i have been working on.
(thanks to stevecee!)

i payed way too much for the ww.
way too much.

so maybe 700 is a fair value?
plus the 200 odd delivery to brissy.
200/700= too high % transport!
upping the cost would help?!

my heart is broken.

nevermind!

thanks again for the input!
you guys rock
merry happy chrissy!
