I have some US license plates if you are interested?

i might be interested, its something i have contemplated but im not sure im going to go that far. i have got some old re-pro coke signs and a few other old looking tin stuff  like that from drink reps i have been tossing up weather i put old original oil and car tin signs that my grandfather has collected over the last 50 years. not sure how car themed i am going or just like that aussie 60's style burger joint or usa dinner might be a bit of a hybrid im thinking  at this stage, some things were similar to both, if i do need some usa number plates ill keep that in mind, cheers, im not a big shop at all so i got allot of thinking to to do, and seeing you guys are into this sort of era recon all this info is really helpfull.
i was born in the 80s and was in that era when this sort of thing was still around but was fazed out during my youth to how shit is now, and thats why im thinking ill bring it back into our shop, i went from type writers and no computers at school to computers at every desk and now smart phones in such a small period of time, and remember this shop we have when were kids and want to see the old school kick ass again. so i have two options upgrade to look modern or make it look dated and old. and since i put the pinny in the shop every seems to see our shop as some hidden gem, they al lremember burger shops with pinballs in them

as requested here is a picture of the shop, its certainly your typical corner burger joint, havent taken any of the inside, will do that.

its called "mellum munchies", reason being its situated at the base of the mount mellum range thats where our town is, and many businesses have the name "mellum" in their some where, its been called that for as long as i can remember.

we have had it for two years now, when we got it, the store was a bit rougher and was ya typical greesy oily sort of joint, we cleaned it up, but the shop always had a good name for good food, so it hasn't been to hard to get it upto scratch, and we are in the path of a tourist drive, which helps, but yer when we get people from all over the country stop in esp with the intro of the pinball machine they seem to think they have discovered some sort of gem, and some old school tradition burger joint they would have had in their town or city before kfc came along and ran them out of biz, lol, which is a prety cool feeling when people make those sort of comments, so thats why im going with that theme instead of modern cafe

ok the drive in speakers arrived today, pretty stoked with how good they are, ill post some pics of them being restored and converted for our shop, as you can see from the back shot they have the perfect mounting point to attach to the wall, first step is strip them down and polish them up.

they are eprad brand speakers, and were from the the aspley drive ins when they closed down.

they come with that distinct old car smell, which is cool lol

a sand down and a buff, and i recon this is about where ill leave it, i was going to really polish it like glass, but it does need to look dated but clean, so i think i wont buff it any more. im happy with this, now i just have to do the back and the second speaker, im going to use a guitar knob for the volume, so the customer can turn it up and down,

yer i was looking at that one, it is a little pricy, I think it might be something i have to keep looking for, and checking daily till one appears at the right price.
cheers for the link ive got that in my watched list to see if it doesnt sell they may relist it cheaper.

there was one on ebay for $100 the other day, it was in mint condition and had the keys and all was from sydney and they wouldn't ship it when i ask, so that was a shame i would have bought that

anyways heres inside the speakers, they are a bastard to open with out the correct tool. i had to soak the screw with wd40 for a few hours then i heated the metal around the screw up with my plastic welder, and with a bit of effort got the special screws undone with a pair of neddle nose pliers, my other option was to try and cut a grove i nthe top of the screw head so i could get a flat head screw driver and unscrew it but it is in a rebated area so couldnt get in there, bastard of a thing,

looks to me even a good pair of computer speakers would fit in these.
was a cockroach nest in them at one point ill put a wire brush wheel on my drill and clean the oxidisation off and ill spray the inside with a clear anamal to seal it up

ok i grabed one of the seats i will be using, here is a picture, as stated in previous posts its 70s school bus seats. the vynal is perfect on many, so ill use them, and there are a few seats that the vynal is shit, so i will be using the shit sheets, cutting off one of the legs and welding it too the frame of the good seats, so i have two solid legs that will be bolted to the ground, being good old stainless these will polish up nice,
as for the vynal i will get some white piping a bolstered around the seats, and some white strips down the center so it doesnt look so plain, but will still look old and classic.

He doesn't have the keys but you can pick the top lock and then take out the guts out of both the locks so that you just need a little screwdriver to open them. Thats what I did.

took a trip to good old jaycar for some bits for my drivin speakers, bought a pair of speakers and some nice little alloy volume knobs. these speakers are a whopping 5watts lol should do the trick, and they fit in the alloy casting of the driveing speaker case.
