Adams problems
« on: September 18, 2008, 10:32:53 PM »

Thought i start and clean up the game room a bit and move a machine around to a new spot and now we have a problem.
Turning the game on every thing works find but soon as i credit up, the lower right flipper enginese and stay on until i open the coin door..Checked all fuses and leds on the boards, all lights on so all good there.Tried the test mode for the lower left and right flipper test ok,but when the top two are tested they don't work in the hold test.
Any one got any hints were i should start

PS i have been fitting a Led kit to the play field and cleaning the inserts as well but have checked and checked to make sure nothing is touching just start to shit me as taken me two hour and still no better.Back to more reading

Craig - Opening up the coin door disables the coils.

The problem could be the flipper button contacts are too close. From memory, there are two leaf contacts, and the larger of the two control the bottom flipper. They could be shorted out. Slip in a piece of cardboard to widen the gap as a test.

Secondly - you mentioned moving the machine - did you fold the head ? If you did - then check connectors on the board above the CPU board - Make sure they have not popped out... They sometime do after folding the head.

Sorry should have said it was a gold one as the flippers have opt boards instead of contacts.Never folded the head down as was only moving around the games room.
but late last night i found me problem.
Whet back to the start and went over everything thing i done and found that that brass flipper buttons are a couple of mil longer which was enough to active the flipper on the right side when you credit it up.The upper right flipper is faulty and very week and sometime it flutters so theirs a problem up there somewhere which i will look into tonight.

Can't believe it took nearly 5 hour of headache to change some simple flipper buttons unbelievable.

cant wait to see how long it takes tonight

I think you are correct.. For some reason I was thinking of a Scared Stiff I was working on. Later Bally/Williams had this function built in..

Correct, pins from about '93 onwards used the coin door interlock switch.

Just about getting their, upper flipper just needed a rebuild and flipper button adjusted.Installed a led kit and wen really happy with it when i turn it on half way threw it but when i finish installing them all, and turn her on very happy.
Not sure if it was cleaning all the black crap from the inserts which gave me the better light but i do think the led do look good.
Got more cleaning to do and a few kits to put on and she will be finished.

Are the ramps on the Adams meant to be clear or that smoke colour as mine has a smoke one at the moment.I think the clear one would look better, just wanted to no which one it came out with.

So, buy next week with time permitting i should have at least two working machines  with NO faults thank god

The original ramps are that smokey grey colour.

I agree that the clear ones do look much better!

Thanks mark for the offer but if that the case i can stuff them up just as good as you can.Going to leave the smoke colour ramp on there for the time being.Don'T need to worry just yet as not pulling anything apart until i get some more of them working 100%with no faults. ^^^

Only got two done so far and one of them was new. :D
