New speakers in pinball??
« on: February 27, 2012, 09:16:07 PM »
ok these will be way to big for a pinball to pump load with current amps, but i have just had our new puppy chew up my jensen floor speakers, chewed up the box surrounds and one of the driver speakers, they are 100 watts each individual speaker seeing i have to buy in pairs im just going to buy new speakers, so im thinking about putting these into two of my machines, as they are bloody good speakers seeing there is 3 speakers each box, i have 5 with one destroyed,
there wouldn't be any issues with putting these in the pinball? one in my rock encore and one in my world cup soccer 94. they would be greatly under powered but that would be the only problem wouldn't it?

You are meant to match the ohm rating (impedance) of a new speaker with that of the existing. Common values are 4 ohm and 8 ohm. You should not use 4 ohm speakers in the place of 8 ohm, but it should be OK to put 8 ohm in place of 4 ohm, you just won't get as much volume.

If you want to make the most of the speakers you could put an additional amp in the pinball machine.

Bought a solder bath from these guys fro a "crazy price". Lasted 5 minutes before catching fire. How they can sell into the Aussie market is beyond me.

I would stay away from any of the mains powered things - these amps are based around a TDA2030 chip in an aluminum case - not that much to go wrong really
