The "over rated" question can only be answered with the money paid for a pinball machine taken into perspective.
If u say Medi-Evil Madness is over rated, at say $10,000 purchase price, IU would have to agree totally, but if the MM was being sold at say $6,000 or $7,000, then I would say its not over rated.
Alot of people believe the late Bally Cookie Cutter collection are far over rated, and at the silly prices , they all are, but knock 30 to 40 percent off the silly prices paid, and then they become reasonably relevant. The reality now, is that all those late Bally cookie cutters can now be had for 5, 6, 7 grand, the realistic prices, and those who paid big money a few years ago, will probably, and likely never get their money back, unless they meet a person with more money than sense.lol
The most over rated machine ever, Cactus Boring Canyon. Never known anyone to buy it except to show off, and then, they always quietly conceeded it was as boring as bat shit.
Now, are we talking "gameplay" only over-rated, or just the whole package is over rated. Monster Bash gameplay combined with art package and audio makes it a great pin, so i wouldnt say thats an over rated game unless u paid more than 7 grand etc.
I have played all the Sterns, and I have found consistantly that Spiderman is nothing special at all, unless u are in love with the spiderman theme, and it has childhood memories. but, if u paid say 5 grand for a HUO Spiderman, i reckon its not over rated. If u paid almost 8 grand, over rated. Money makes the difference between over rated.
But the last thing to remember, is that every machine is a personal choice, and my worst is someone elses best, so that means everything we say on this thread is useless, or meaningful, depending on ya mood.
Addams Family does a good job at being a Addams Family, so i think it is fine. If someone says a machine is great or bad, just play it and they are still all fun.lol
