Stern - X-Men Pinball (mid 2012)

Here is a quote from a pinsider that in the past has been fairly correct. He is suggesting that the next pin will be X-Men and Avengers will follow it and X-men is going to be comic art, with custom dmd, custom voices etc.

Here is what he said today:

"Dave Link and Borg sculpted the toys for X-Men, similar to AC/DC and Spider-Man they are custom and fresh.

I'm told the Pro does feel very well featured and a buyer of that model will be happy.
The LE will have some very special treats. 5 mechanical interactive ball toys. A spinning disc magnet like LIS and Twister makes a return. For example it's a disc/magnet in LE and just a magnet like whiplash in Pro."

"Word is good guys LE and bad guys LE limited to a low number of each "about" 300 per.
No premiums, this will be a TRON LE scenario again. Get on or get shut out !   The trim and special goods are gonna be freaktastic !"

"Same pf and rules in LE's, just cab art, 2 color trims and backglass art differences I'm hearing."

Great idea to have it based on the comics and not the films and another great idea to have bad guys and good guys xmen LE and no premium machines.
If the playfields are the same as the pro it looks like Stern are getting it right again.
The backglass art looks good, looking forward to seeing the progress on artwork, shots and toys etc. Could be a cracker pin...fingers crossed, sounds really promising.

Stern has posted a photo on their Facebook page....

a Blackbird which is the plane of x-men or Mystique but either way looks like an announcement is coming - X-men

Also many many rumours that this will be comic art, custom dmd graphics, custom sounds / voices

Really looking forward to the artwork on this one, dunno if I will buy one or not but I get the feeling it could be something cool.
It sounds like it will be the only MARVEL pin that has not got a film tie in and is based on the comics only and that has to be a very good thing.
Nothing wrong with film tie-ins but MARVEL pins deserve to be comic related first and foremost.

Word is the photos will be released mid next week, this guy leaked early the photo shoot of the AC/DC so he has a inside connection:

"Well I wouldn't expect it today, middle of next week sure. I hate giving definite dates because of let downs. All I can say is it's close. And I know they are working on the photo shoot.

Pro has 2 ramps and LE has a special/action additional 3rd"

"Both models were designed side by side. A first for Stern Running Pros first with LE's very soon after. Not the long wait like the past 2 models. Borg has not had this long of a design timeline before. This one is cooked and ready to be served  "

Interesting...At the moment it seems a bit like there is a game of tug of war. It's good to see competition again, as it makes pinball exciting again.

This little quote from the insider is about sound produced by David Thiel.

"All custom   each character has own tune and will be the largest sound package to date utilizing the extra memory chip introduced on AC/DC CPU going forward.

He did excellent custom work on TF, SM, IM and Tron. No worries."

"Thiel told me 26 tracks are being created for xmen"
