« on: April 02, 2012, 07:26:28 PM »
Looks like Wayne jumped on board and got some glass as well.Cost is around the same, $350 a sheet.

The only thing i want to no is PDI,INVISIGLASS and now Optiview Non Reflective Pinball Glass, are they the same as all seam to come from Germany. !@#

Hopefully the more people to make it available, the cheaper it will get.

These are just the trademark names that each company has laid claim to, so mention them to a professional glazier and they should know what you are talking about.

1. Amiran  - made in the US by Schott (this will be the Jersey Jack glass)
http://www.us.schott.com/2009_architecture/english/products/non_reflective_glass/amiran/index.html

2. Viridian Optiview - Pilkington Glass division in Australia manufacture this so "could" be cheaper than importing depending on base price. (this will be the MrPinball glass)

3. Luxar - made in Europe. (in various thicknesses) this will be the PDI glass)
http://www.hy-tech-glass.ch/en/products/anti-reflective-glass/luxar.html

I believe that in all cases it is simply glass with an anti-reflective coating applied (either through lamination or by dipping) to either one or both sides of the sheet of glass. Each company has their own method of application, so each has laid claims to a slightly variable anti reflective rate between 0.5 and 2.5%.  (97.5 to 99.5% anti reflective success rate.)

For comparison standard pinball glass is about 7-8% anti reflective. (92-93% anti reflective success rate.)

Great to see the price come down, originally you were quoting high $300 to mid $400 per sheet.

While we are being coy....

I spoke to a sales rep for Viridian today (the company that manufactures Optiview anti reflective glass), who gave me some very interesting info on this product.

It seems this glass isn't quite as expensive as we are being led to believe.

(More info coming after the Easter break, once I have rock solid quotes and order quantities.)  ^^^
