Timezone, not Twilight Zone.

As for TZ the pin, i'd never buy one. Boring, over rated and over priced.

only one reason Stern would re-release TRON... there is a demand for it!

An absolute cracker of a game, complex in its simplicity, certainly not for everyone
but for some reason that machine seems to "gel" and keeps bringing players back to it

there would be no demand for a re-release of Tron...the last movie was terrible and did nothing to enhance the rep of the pin.
It will be a very fine stand alone stern ina few yrs plus.

they have and/or are being reproduced, when did Stern re-run another title, mmm...

Tron is being re-run. I sent the Stern factory a email asking and they have advised they have orders to fill and will start production again of TRON after the AC/DC line slows down.

The Stern website also shows the game to be in current production.  ^^^

I read on pinside that someone received a Tron with a build date of 19 April 2012. So they have been running for a while it would seem. No Tron LE though just Pro's.

Yes, said it back on page two of this thread so emailing Stern to confirm was a bit redundant. They are also doing a short run of Avatar and Rolling Stones as well to fulfill a specific customer order (most likely Betson Amusements or one of the other 800 pound gorilla customers they have since I can't see any other demand for either of those titles otherwise.)  !^!

Crystal balling now, but I predict the price point gap between second hand Stern Pro and LE models to become even more pronounced (particularly Pro models falling)

I would wait on this one for a while (unless it is a must have).

Another outcome that Stern didn't anticipate with the tiered pricing model (or maybe they did?)

Edit:
There is another run of Tron Pro being done as we speak by Stern. Friend in the US just had his delivered yesterday - build date April 19th 2012.

I had emailed Stern about TRON many weeks ago, before this thread had even begun.

I had actually asked if future TRONs to Australia would have any upgrades done to them, namely the new Red LED display, and the new sound upgrades etc, and specifically when and If production would start again. I got a definate answer about production starting again, and they were on the fence about any future upgrades for aussie machines, but tending to lean towards the "proably not" answer when I pushed them to be specific.

I also asked about Transformers PRO and the Avatar PRO model with the same upgrades and got the same answers.  ^^^

Hi
Was gonna wait and see what happens before I made this post but I'll bring you up to speed now and then let you know later if it happened or not.
I went and played it last Sunday afternoon. I am told it is 4 months old (but hard to know for sure). It has spent it's days in crown casino and I guess as a result of this (there security) it looks like it just came out of the box. I was very impressed with the look of the game, majic cabinet and 3D backglass but the playfield was no to my tastse...this is one area where I'm a little more old school.
I played about 10 games and to be honest wasen't really that much into it. I didn't really let this worry me as I know from past experience that I have never really been into any of my games until I have given them a fair bit of play..kind of grow on me as I get to know them. That said there really didn't seem to be that much going on.
I had a few problems with the ball getting stuck down one of the kick out holes and then it started doing some random stuff such as scoring while the ball was stuck down the hole and the DMD doing weird stuff. As I had never played Tron before I didn't know if this was normal or not but it didn't feel right to me. Also it was hard to hear over the music being played..One last thing the lighting was very low so difficult to really look at the finer detail for scratches dings..ect.

Anyway I'll try to cut a long storey short here. I told him of the faults and he said he will get his teck to check it out. Rang me on Wedensday and advised me it was a stuffed board. He is changing the board under warranty and was meant to call me Friday to bring me up to date but as yet I have not heard from him..I have left him 2 messages so will have to wait and see.
We did agree on a price but no money has changed hands so we shall see I made him a low ball offer figuring he would probably reject and was suprised when he accpted. I figure if it doesn't grow on me I can always move it on.
Will ring him again tomorrow and keep you updated.
Regards
Tim

IF the machine is in good condition, u will definately be able to move it on at the right price to someone who likes the game.

Give it a go, update the software to the latest gamecode which will help alot. Play it for a while, but at the same time, study the game rules in the manual etc which will definately help you to understand how to get the most out of the game. Hope it works out and u score a good game n have lots of fun playing it.

*%* lol, who care's who said it first.

Good to see you have adopted shootar's impeccable grammar and punctuation skills, BrissyGuy.  *)*

For an answer to your question, see the overelaborate post below yours, as to who apparently cares (maybe a little too much).

Another grammar nazi. Homepin is looking for a first year apprentice. You've got the job.

It would be interesting to reflect on the current educational standards and the resultant lack of understanding of grammar and spelling, compared with what was taught in my day. As many of us are my age or older, I would have thought the level would be a lot higher than it actually is, so I guess while people were taught it, it didn't stick, or they just don't care about getting it right.

Proper use of grammar and correct spelling aid comprehension, which is why some of us bother.
