Best Data East Pinball???
« on: May 07, 2012, 04:20:32 PM »
Hi All

I've recently purchase a TFTC because it was a good deal.
My first DMD machine.
Prior to this I never really thought about adding a DE game to my collection.

Anyway - a week later I'm loving TFTC.  Great theme, great modes, challenging shots.  Just the gameplay challenges I've been looking for.

Just wondering what else DE did that I missed out on?

Forget about the license (ie Star Wars, GnR) factor - WHATS THE BEST DATA EAST PINNIE???  !*! !*! !*!

Cheers
Scott

There are so many great Data East machines. As good as any other brand, just as much fun, and very very reliable.

A few I have are -
TFT Crypt
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Last Action Hero
Star Trek 25th
WWE Royal Rumble Wrestling

But if you go to the Internet Pinball Data Base and look up Data East you will find some more great machines.
Also, Data East turned into Sega and they have alot of great games branded under Sega as well.

GNR

+1 for me.  There is so much to like on a GnR machine.  They had some great licenses.

Jurassic Park is my favorite, Tommy a close second along with GNR and TFTC tied for third. Rocky & Bullwinckle is up there.

In my opinion there's a bit of a gap after that.
“If you wanna escape, go up to a pinball machine. There’s a magic button on the front that takes you to a world under the glass and makes the the rest of the universe disappear.”

I'd have to say Tommy is 1st in my books, followed by TFTC, and GNR.  *%*

1. Jurassic Park. As good if not better than Addams Family.
2. Tales From The Crypt - Great theme, player and I love the humor
3. Guns N Roses - Crap band but awesome pinball.

DE's don't get a lot of love because most I've seen have not been correctly prepared for the home market. I think more work goes into these games, and this is why they "seem" to be problematic - But they are more reliable than Bally / Williams when done right  ^^^

I'd have to agree with you on that Nino.  Once the bugs are ironed out when you first get a DE machine, they rarely, if ever, play up again.  Give them a bit of love and they return the favour.

Agreed.  I've done quite a few D.E's and once they have been shopped property have never missed a beat.

L.A.H I rate very highly but probably GNR 1st, TOMMY second then L.A.H...
