ANNC: New Gottlieb Backglass Manufacturer
« on: June 20, 2012, 12:28:10 PM »
I'm very pleased to announce that my company, Great Pinball Limited.
Has been approved as another supplier of Gottlieb backglass. Both
Steve Young & Bob Fesjian both inspected sample Classic Stern
Backglass.

The process is modern uv ink technology to apply color, white, & light
gray blocking layer to the back of new tempered glass. I ship them in
my own wooden box using the post office for USA & Canada.

My main focus will be doing glass where art can be found or supplied,
for titles not done by the other Gottlieb LLC vendors. The technology
allows glass on demand, 1 at a time. The price will be $250 US per
glass.

I would like to thank both Steve Young & Bob Fesjian, They have heard
my many ideas over the years, while I worked through the problems of
product developement.

"Eye of the Tiger" may or may not be the first glass to go through
manufacturer & inspection. Need to find out if there are other license
issues with Columbia Pictures.

I will ship to Australia, when glass is produced.

Fantastic news John, look forward to seeing the titles to be done.

Pre-order for an Asteroid Annie!! I know there are a few people around who looked for one a while back.

Well done John, congratulations on all your hard work and persistence.  You should also look at printing on perspex/lexen as Gottlieb did for export games.  I think it would make shipping to Australia cheaper than sheets of glass.

John,
Great news I want to place "KINGPIN" in the long list of BG's needed. I have been and continue to hunt for a good one.

Great news John
Out of interest - How far back in era of machine can you do.
Do you scan - Redo the art yourself or do you rely on completed redone scanned artwork from other collectors?

+1 on the perspex/lexen. Would encourage more buyers and take the worry out of breakaging in transit. I'm in the process of pain stakingly drawing my own BG for a couple of titles in my collection. Would be great to purchase a reproduction if available. Looking for 'Spirit of 76' and 'Card Whiz' when available.

I prefer to use new tempered glass. Sure I have had some breakage in transit. Insurance is questionable whether they will pay or not. I have had glass broken using UPS, & on the airline (most likely rough handling & abuse). For USA & Canada, for years I have used the post office, & have not had a broken one yet. Always use a wooden shipping box, currently I use 1" x 3" spruce strapping which is routered with a 1/4" bit. The panels are 1/8" mdf panel, which is stapled. Top panel is taped, string used, & then taped around the sides. I use a fragile sticker front & back, ship 1, 2, or 3 glass in a box. I use the plastic edge trim cut into little pieces (2 to a side for protection). Still insure the package of pinball glass. For Australia, I use CPR for shipping & only suggest 1 or 2 in their custom cardboard box.
