Scared Stiff
« on: June 23, 2012, 03:40:38 PM »
Went down to Bumper Action this morning to check out a Family Guy pin to see what I thought. Not bad a good bit of fun and great audio (if your into the show) but not a pin I would buy.
Then I tried some other games and came across a Scard Stiff. Not a title I had ever considered but after just one game I loved it. Not too many times I had felt that strongly about a pin after just one game except maybee AFM and CV and I would have to play those 2 again but IMO SS had them beat.
The playfield really seamed to flow for me and suit the way I like to play nice and open and  I didn't have any problems hitting what I was aiming for. I played about 6 games and got my name up each time nice long games. Left me thinking maybee it was a little too easy and may get boring after a while.
Who has played one and what did you think? I dont see them for sale too often so would also like to know what you think a nice one would be worth?
Thanks..Tim

A really good game, one I plan to own one of these days.

Sensation artwork and really funny audio, speech and good music. Lots of Elvira innuendo.

The gameplay is a little easy, perhaps not as deep as classics like AFM or TZ, but enough to keep you entertained.

Overall, a really solid game.

I like the game - I owned the game - I sold the game.

Pros - nice and fast, can be fairly flowy, BOOBIES,  a horror theme ( albeit tongue in cheek ), some good modes, some dead simple modes, a few different multiball modes,The StiffOmeter audio,  looks good, backbox game to add to the fun ties nicely into the gameplay if used correctly.

Cons- fairly easy game, I am not the worlds best player and on many many occasions I got through to at least start The Stiff O Meter (I reckon I got there at least 6 games out of 10 when I owned the machine and I had it set AS DIFFICULT as the settings could go) - so after about a year it got a little old to be honest.

Dont get me wrong - I am not BAGGING the game, it IS a lot of fun and you get a giggle playing it when a few voice calls come out, its just pretty easy.

This is MY experience and thoughts - I reckon others will be the exact opposite - THATS PINBALL  :lol

Felt the same Tim when i first played it. The criss-cross ramp shots, ball lock shot & coffin shot are great. One cool thing that impressed me on this pinnie is that the Jackpot logo artwork on the playfield is used on the dmd as well.
Haven't played one for a long time.

Achieving Stiff-O-Meter....is she hard to beat?

Brilliant game. Horror theme with plenty of laughs. My second favorite DMD after CV. The rules are not too deep, but the "fun factor" makes up for it.

On my "wish list" to own one day. Prices are all over the place with this title. $4700 - $5500 for a really nice example. Look around and compare prices and quality of work first.

Sold one a couple of months ago...No wear 4600. Have another that I intend on keeping. Most have wear at the trunk. The one you played came from a collector and is probably the best example I have seen.

I own both titles. Both are heaps of FUN and entertain gameroom guests. If I had to choose only one it would be Scared Stiff, better art.
