I've tried to watch the Avengers movie during my flight home from Pinball Expo. Superheroes simply don't do it for me. I gave it about an hour and then turned it off. Sure the movie was nice, but I'm just not that into these superheroes. I doubt if I'll care for the pinball machine. I hadn't played X-Men when I got to Expo. There must have been about 8 around and only on the last day, when there was barely any other games left to play, I gave it a shot. The design is actually nice, as is Transformers, but I just don't get the theme, who is who, what to do or why. While Stern seems to release a superhero pin every other title, I could care less about those.

Bring on Avengers, a green Hulk LE would be brilliant!
I just hope Gomez does something different from the typical fan layouts he has been designing and gives us a unique and stunning machine.

I think it is just luck of the draw with whats going on in the movie world, and taking advantage of sales / marketing especially with the Iron Man 3 coming up and people can buy in with Iron Man on a Avengers. No rush with a Kiss as they are getting old anyway but not going anywhere or Star Trek when the next movie hasn't been released yet.

Because they are cool, span generations, are tried and tested, will still be around after ALL other themes are distant memories and they have way more appeal than generic band/bland pins.
If the kids of tomorrow have any interest in pinball, which I doubt very much they will ( we are the last generation of pinheads imo) then the first games they will be drawn to are the superhero pins based on films, tv shows, comic books etc that they grew up with.

Having said that, I would love to see JJP or whoever take one or more superhero themes to give buyers more options than just Stern who are the only one on the ball on these themes atm.
I would love to see a Flash or Aquaman pin based on the comic books.

Official word about the next release will be in 2-3 weeks.  Probably one of the worst kept secrets in pinball like always, it will be The Avengers.  2 x LE models, a Premium and a Pro model just like AC/DC.

There you have it, mystery solved.
Addicted to pins.

In some ways, the part media release about Stern titles 3 to 5 months before the actual release is good cause it helps some people to save money  towards buying a new machine before it gets here...
...It is interesting that they are making a Premium model for Avengers if it comes to fruition...probably because the 2 x LE models are probably going to be sold out within a month if they are winners like AC/DC, X Men etc... Dying to see this game as well..Still not sure why it was released so close to X men but I guess when licences come up, you have to grab them and run with them whilst the topic is still hot n popular....

I think its a smart move in most ways cause Avengers fans will be X Men fans and vice a versa.. I would buy a Avengers Pro as well if it is good, and having 2 x action supermen themed pins side by side wouldnt look bad at all and might just compliment each other well....
Hoping they make more LE machines (300 plus of each) but having a Premium in the mix tells me LE numbers will be low just to get people worried they will miss out n people will purchase just to make sure they get one...

Anyone here, except Daz and myself interested in a Avengers BNIB pinball  !@# !@#

Also, I got a email today from the someone who is working on the pin, saying the artwork is moviebased for Avengers, not cartoon like, which is why X Men and Avengers can sell side by side and be very different etc..

yeah I am keen for Avengers and if true a Premium or a Pro, won't be able to afford or justify a LE. A Premium would be cool as it will hopefully have the lighting effects using the colour changing leds like the LE. The AC/DC LE and the X-Men LE lighting was cool.

If I go for a Pro I will customize with blades and custom trim - keen to do Black nickel trim - depends on the art.

They would have to use the hulk smash in it.... and a spinning hammer would be cool as well - lots of cool things could be done on this.

AMD says Avengers wont be available in Australia til Jan/Feb, unless Stern does something different to what they have told the Stern agents production wise.
Maybe they will release a few of each n every Avengers model (Pro - Premium - LE versions) in the USA in the next 4 or so weeks to get people ordering for Xmas so to speak and get the usual people who like to treat themselves at Xmas/early new year with a decent purchase. This makes sense from a marketing point of view with a earlier release date to show the machines off, well before full production gets fully underway.

This also gives Stern agents more time to move X Men stocks out the doors etc.
AMD in Sydney has a impressive line up of BNIB and brand new just opened machines on display upstairs. Pretty impressive when u walk in up there and see all the great eye candy sitting there brand new mint unboxed of all AC/DC, X Men and Transformer variants.

here is a video interview with Gomez at a radio station, not sure if it is a mistake, mucking around etc but mention of Avengers at the 6.25 and 8.25 mark.
