Playfield Swap

A CPR playfield will be used in this machine. As part of a playfield swap, I recommend new lamp sockets, T-Nuts and score switches. I had to Zinc Plate the brackets and other bits of hardware. It is easier to do if you have the old playfield in front of you. I install the new lamp sockets first and then lay the ground braid on top.

I use new hex head screws to install lamp sockets.

Here are the old, rusty and defective lamp sockets. These should always be replaced.

Nearly done with the re wiring ..

Apron was primed and then base coated. This is an exact color match.

Wooden side rails are a darker Green

Siderails installed with some hardware

Here something interesting. On almost all Bally's from this era, the metal guides are grained. On this title, they are polished. So I had to replicate that. I double checked with my other playfield and all guides are polished !

Here's the playfield ready to populate.

New score and sling switches will be installed next.

Thanks for the kind words, Brett  ^^^

I've been lucky, as the owner has made it easy for me as most parts are new. I'm flying through it now, and it looks amazing. I can't wait to play it !

The underside of the playfield is almost completed. I was not happy with the leaf switches, so I ordered new ones from RTBB. The mounting brackets were not the best so I replated them, along with other hardware that I missed during my earlier replating sessions ! These are small parts that would get lost if I sent them away to be replated.

Pop Bumper bodies are replaced with NEW parts. In fact, just about everything on the playfield is new !

Under the playfield is almost completed. New ground braid, all lamp sockets, new flipper kits - the list goes on !

A close up of the detailed work. Even the manufacturing card is reproduced and signed by me. Small details that add up to a very involved restoration.

The upper playfield is coming along nicely. The playfield posts are new.

A quick test with the playfield mounted in the cabinet. Looks amazing !

The apron and shooter section have been repainted and the decals installed.

Some quick bling photos of the nearly completed playfield.

I'm really pleased with the progress. The game plays exceptionally well.

Yes - and a great deal of patience and enjoyment. You can't do this unless you really have a passion for it.
