EM Tech problem on Bally Aces High
« on: July 20, 2012, 10:48:57 AM »

I need a fresh mind to untangle mine !

Aces High plays exceptionally well, but it has some functional problems. I have the schematic, but I'm still having trouble. Here are two problems I need to untangle.

1 - Credit issues

With more than 4 credits on the game

Press the credit button once (first time)- Subtract one credit. Game resets perfectly and serves the ball.
Press the credit button again (second time) - Subtract one credit. No second player added
Press the credit button again (third time) - Subtract one credit. Second player added
Press the credit button again (fourth time) - Subtract one credit. Third player added
Press the credit button again (Fifth time) - Subtract one credit. Fourth player added

It "skips" the second player until the THIRD credit.

2 - Scoring issue

During game play, when 50 points is lit on the rollovers, only 40 points is rewarded on the score of any player. Happens all the time. When I manually depress the "50 point relay" it awards 40 points.

Any idea ?

Can you scan and email this part of the schematic?

Ive only worked on 2 player Bally EM's,

Player select is in the backbox from 1 to 2 player... you might have 4 of these in your back box or 2 off 2 way relays to transfer from 1&2 player and 3&4 player... need schematic and pic inside header..

Could a stepper unit be one increment out of correct position?

Have you tried moving the stepper unit in the back box by hand? It could be that it is dirty or binding on something and that is causing the skipping. One was dirty in a machine I worked on and I had similar results.

I'll try mate. The Schematic is around 10 X the size of a GTB Wedgehead, but the relevant sections should be scanned ok

I thought it was the player unit. I rebuilt it as part of the restore. It is adjusted correctly. I checked again a couple of days ago.

All steppers are rebuilt. It seems like it is more of a contact adjustment issue.
