Managed to get the red done on the cabinet today. I was working in my shop today due to workload and cut the stencils at the same time... normally i cut and watch to make sure everything goes smoothly and then weed out while next stencil is being cut. This time, i just have faith that everything is going to go OK./

Stencil down...

First coat.. this is about as thick as you want it to be... very thin coat, allow to dry and then apply over the top until the colour JUST about covers base,

Top coat..

Finished red for cabinet... note colour change on base white due to different light.

Captain Fantastic is one my iconic machines.. i just love this game. Game, artwork.. its the whole package for me. This is by far not the fastest restore in history but its coming along nicely. Im in no rush.. took me 10 years to get this machine. Ill have a complete and working A+ machine in under a year.. ^^^ ^^^

work is fantastic, pun intended.gav you said you used thinners on the contacts after the steem clean, correct?
how did you apply the thinners?,air brush on full blast ,etc.?
thinking of going this way on my "swinger"resto.
mildflame has been painting the playfield this weekend using the air brush.
resto thread to come,in the near future. $#$

Not thinners.. used Meths.. it disperses water and i basically filled up the syphon airbrush bottle with it and sprayed onto the contacts.. then i poured the rest over assemblies with the board upright. Gets rid of any water and therefore corrosion setting in

thanks gav, meths is cheaper than thinners.and easier to get.it would also give the air brush a good clean out. ^^^

Meths does so much.. has so many uses. Ive even had a bush doctor cut a lump out of my arm and he then doused with Meths.. hurt like shit but its all he ever used to clean and sterilise.

Its miracle liquid..

This is my game.. took me long enough to find one of these at the right price to do a restore. Its not getting sold.
With that in mind, i didnt put any flek on the game before stencils went down.. i want this to be as minty as i can get, im even considering chrome door. legs, shooter etc.
In my painting dungeon i have a repro playfield with ceramic clear coat.. it looks unreal. Tony ( ANT68) secured a repro backglass for me.. these havent been available for some time.. but yep.. we found one.
My wife and i are buying a property and good fortune with us, we move 1st week of May.. she took one look at the finished cabinet and stated that this one can stay inside ( we have large rumpus room and shed).

Did anyone notice the stencil mistake??.. i need to go back and adjust my files.. tut tut

Front right leg, to the right of the top hole, blue needs to join stripe, you have a white gap.
If you don't remember the 70s then you were on drugs.
If you remember playing pinball in the 70s you were having a good time.
If you don't remember anything,  then read about it here,

Yep.. and im real pissed about it. I can adjust with a frisket and airbrush and will alter the file to suit.. buggered as to how i missed it though.

So bloody irritating....
