I did both shows..... Expo was bigger.. had more people and more machines.
Im not sure it was MORE successful... was certainly bigger but it also came with a lot of criticism.
Pinfest was smooth... any game niggles fixed straight away ( which didnt happen after Sat morning once moving games faults were sorted out) and was far bigger than i think anyone thought.
I see pinfest as a successful platform that the organisers can work on to make a much bigger show. I hope if it gets bigger it doesnt lose the "feel" that it had... was a great atmosphere and really good to be part of.
Expo was set up as an annual Australian pinball show with great expectations that came under great scrutiny and failed to run any further due to all sorts of reasons i dont need to go into.
So in terms of success.. its Pinfest.
In terms of people through the door... Expo, but then again, hold Pinfest in Sydney and see how it mushrooms instantly.
I see one show as moving forward... i see another as dead

For me Pinfest was way better than expo at Petersham.
It was very hot in there with all the people in that small place and a lot of games broke down and where not fixed.

Only made it to one of them so can't comment too much, but the provision of the venue is a really great advantage of Pinfest.

I went to both and think Pinfest was the better of the 2.
Why ?
1. Pinfest was a much better venue .. Fantastic in fact
2. Much better vibe
3. All games were working .

It is hard to compare the two though , given the concepts were somewhat different .

I need more room ! and more $$$

I learnt to play pinball in Petersham - at the Newignton Inn just up the road from where the expo was - for me - this is where pinball was invented
