At least the seller is honest enough to show pictures of the playfield wear  ^^^

Some eBayers love to hide the wear on the classics  #@# (if I just hold the camera at this angle, it will create a reflection over the wear spot  !@#)

CPR to the rescue !

Definitely worth a restoration. A great challenge - But the playfield would have to be replaced. The auction started at $1 - So it will be interesting to see how it goes  ^^^

Jokes aside, a friend bought a Elvira from this seller and he was very happy with the deal and the seller etc.

Anyone taking bets on how much it will sell for ? (under $200 is my guess)

I'm glad the seller didn't part it out. I'll certainly keep my eye on it.

You have the talent n experience Nino to bring it back to life.

If anything, this would be a perfect "before and after" example of just how good APR (Aust Pinball Restorations) can make any machine.

It would be a fine example of just how good a machine can come back to life when a professional gets his hands on it.

I'd welcome the challenge - That's why I was complimentary towards the seller. Most would have parted it out. This game can be saved  ^^^

WOW  $$( that playfield is ROOTED.. i dont think i'd like to try to restore THAT one  *.*

Still though if a repro pf is available its definitely restorable.

Are backglasses for this title available as a repro??

Star Trek is an old fave of mine that id like to own some day, but not THIS one i dont think..  :lol

Is it restorable.. well yes it is. But it depends on how much time you want to put into it compared to how much its worth at the end of the day. To restore and sell on is a false economy.. to repaint this is far too much time to make it a profitable exercise. But if you wanted a challenge and intended to keep the machine then.. yes.. go for it.
middle section of Star trek isnt that complicated... its a pretty simple design.. mainly the stock blue with the Enterprise taking centre stage.. text will be an issue but if you are willing to vectorise the letters then it can all be replaced using a basic stencil and airbrush.
Done with care, youd never know its a repaint.. id estimate about $600 - $700 worth of work on the PF alone.. possible 20+ hours work NOT including any vectorising or time spent paint matching. Would certainly be cheaper to buy a repro and do a swap... but then again, wheres the fun and pain? LOL.
My Star Trek isnt in as bad condition, but its not too far off and i bought it with a PF restore in mind and im looking forward to the challenge.
Big project this game.. but not by any means impossible

I'll rephrase part of my opening statement in my previous post.. i dont think i'd like to try to restore THAT one, for anyone else  *.* *.* *.* *.*
as a long term project for myself i'd definitely have a go at repairing that p/f

I'd be tempted to bid on this game but i have too many projects of my own that i simply dont have the time (or money) to work on at this point in time  !!!

Good points Gav.
It would have to be a keeper, or a high end restore which someone would want in their collection. Its still a profitable exercise so to speak for someone i reckon based on the below figures which i am guessing at, might be close ?  !@#

Buy machine for say $100
CPR Playfield new $700 ? landed ?
CPR backglass $300 ?
Repaint cabinet n restore properly-paint only n supplies $150
Playfield bits n pieces $150
Boards - 2nd hand set $500 ish
Labour to do the whole lot $1100 cash

Total $3,000 but that gets u a brand new machine probably. Is a Star Trek 1978 model in brand new mint condition worth $3,000 to a high end collector, given used/tired examples sell for around the $2,000 mark ?

or keep machine for ones self and it owes you say $2,000 without the labour.
