Twilight Zone clock boards
« on: October 17, 2012, 10:44:57 AM »
I was struggling with my Twilight Zone clock optos big time, plus trying to find the original optos was a real pain

I got in contact with Ingo from germany who has made a replacement board that from what i can see is far superior to others out there.  Installation is very easy, and instantly had my clock back working.

It is a single layer design, using a different (readily available) opto and driver system, as well as good LEDs to get rid of all the problems that come with the original boards.

I grabbed a few so have a couple of extra for sale

Ingo also made me a test bench where i can test the new boards before sending them out to ensure they work 100%, as well, it can test the old boards.  My old board had 1 out of the 8 optos that tested reliably!

At the moment they come standard with warm white LEDs (which mimic the original bulbs very well) but i also have one set each of the following colours

Cool White
Green
Yellow
Red

These are $5 each for a set (4)

There is an option to get colour changing ones, but i would have to wait a few weeks to get some more of these - they are about an extra $15 (for set of 4)

The board itself is $125 including registered post anywhere in Australia

See below for pics

Look great, but how do they seat into the clck housing? Any mods to be done there?
Still loving my Metallica Premium

No mods required - its put straight into the housing, connect the plugs and you are away.

Here is a link that shows the process really well http://www.garrett-jess.com/tz/ikclockinstall/Clock_Installation

The front optos are mounted with a spacer to make them the same height as the originals on the double board

+1 for this board.   I bought one of these direct from Ingo.  FAR better than any other repo clock boards on the market.  The last one you'll ever need to buy for your TZ
VUK you!

Just a quick bump as i am getting some boards sent in the next day or so, please PM me fairly quickly if you are interested in a clock board.

Price is $140 for rainbow colour changers or $125 for warm white or $130 for a different single colour (cool white, yellow, blue, green, red) - prices include trackable postage within Australia

I'm thinking of putting another order in shortly - anyone chasing any of these boards - not sure on price with USD changes and postage increase, but shouldn't be too much more than listed in the first post.

Just a bump as i may consider doing another order of these boards, can't be 100% sure on price as it depends on paypal exchange rate, but suspect it will be around $150, with no more than $10 difference either way, this price will include postage.  Alternatively, Ingo sells them direct for $148 USD plus postage.  This also includes the rainbow LEDs.

Let me know if anyone is interested
