Based my reply on the person getting them cheap not making a profit where he could of.  I wouldn't be comfortable making a profit based on a mates win, even if it was years down the track.  If he had have added any margin to his win, I would keep what I made when I sold them.

I would ask him if he was still interested in the titles and offer them back to him at the initial purchase price plus a small margin or any work or improvements made. If he was not interested anymore I'd let him know I was going to move them on and when the sale went through buy him a nice bottle of scotch as appreciation of the initial deal he made with you
