The Rocky uses the metal Acorn Speed Nuts. They are metal. Greg carries them ;

Are the posts for your ALI ? If so, they are Plastic ones, and PSP carries them;

Were you able to source new plastics for Rocky? PBR did not have them, but purchased  targets etc from them.

What is the best way to tidy up the ball guide rails on the playfield please? - they are a little rusty

Thanks,
Tony

Tony - I don't believe the plastics are available anymore..A member here bought the last set some time ago (and the Spirit plastics as well).. Hopefully you will receive some mylar with your targets. I strongly suggest you use it !

The ball guide rails - Do you mean the steel guides, or the woodgrain guides ?

The metal guides - First clean with windex and an old toothbrush, then regrain with 360 Wet/Dry sandpaper. Best to remove them when doing this.

Hope that helps !

Hi Nino,

Sorry for not making it clear but was referring to the steel guides. Will follow your advice.

Thanks for the advice re targets. I did read that in one of your posts.

My plastics are pretty good but thought I would try to grab a spare set.

Thanks,
Tony

Good Stuff Tony.. I like having a second set of plastics as well..The only available plastics sets would have been the ones left over from Production days.. I'm not sure if they were reproduced.

I have the "final word" on the hot stamped targets from PBR, after I asked for clarification on what colors needed to be protected;

"Any color Drop Target with White Hot Stamping should be covered by Mylar!

Any White Drop Target with Red Hot Stamping Should be covered by Mylar!

If you have the mylar - cover them all !"

So the Rocky will have mylar installed on all the targets.

That's a bit orderary, you'd think they could somehow protect them better than that, or at least put the mylar on themselves  ::)

It is a Royal pain in the arse... Cutting them to size, then removing the assemblies and placing the mylar over the targets.. Interestingly enough, My Paragon Targets have been in the machine for four months - No Mylar - and they are perfect..

Interesting...protect with Mylar.

How long do you reckon this will last?? Mylar is OK with having a ball roll over it but bashing it is another matter.

Thought of using something else like a clear epoxy? Even a squirt of polyurathane has got to be better than mylar surely?

I was thinking the same thing. Clear coat of some sort maybe? Same stuff that is used to clear coat playfields perhaps.

I used the thinner contact for the 1,2,3 targets on my Fathom. When I insalled new targets about 10 years ago I covered them with contact from day 1.

The contact is still adhering perfectly now and those targets cop a hammering sideways too. I cut sections for the targets from a sheet of the thinner contact that operaters used to use to cover whole playfields, this seems just right, not too thick like the regular mylar.  I don`t know if the cheap book covering type contact is any good for this application.
