Banana Flipper
« on: January 21, 2013, 03:29:12 PM »
I had a weird recollection of  a game with "banana-shaped" flippers. Can anyone remember which this was? I recall it was much harder to aim at things, and gladly, they seemed to not make any further appearances.

Any other games have flipper variations? (apart from mythical ruby slippers)

I have Time Warp with banana flippers and Disco fever was the other machine released with them although many operators replaced the banana type for normal flippers. Maybe Nino or someone else can eloborate as to why?

I also have a Time Warp with "Banana" flippers. That's the way I played it back in the arcade days, so I have left them that way - I did try out the game with "normal" flippers but it wasn't as fun IMO.

Just this game and Disco Fever had them.

Here's the text of an email by The King Steve Ritchie with his recollections of the background to them -

I think time warp would have been way too easy to play and win games on with standard flippers. The bananas made it a challenge although I hated the game for them. But upon reflection it did need this style
Still loving my Metallica Premium
