Just noticed over the last few days that the supercharger on my Getaway is starting to slow down. Did a test on it through the Tests menu, and sure enough, its reporting a time of 166, (what unit this is I have no idea), which apparently from a bit of Googling, any time over 100 is not good. Is there a way to adjust the speed??? On another supercharger matter, just noticed that the supercharger gate is hanging on by 1 rivet, and only just hanging on. It may actually have something to do with the charger time, as the ball whacks the leading edge of the loose gate on every circuit it does. And today for the first time, the ball did one circuit then fell back down the ramp. I am sooo depressed, my Getaway is falling apart...
...and worse still I have the lads coming over Saturday night to give it a run...! On top of my depression, I will now have NO street cred to deal with as well...!

Could be a few things. In test mode - are all the opto's working (ie finger / ball in between to test)?
Re the remp - you'll have to take off the flap (easy job) and get the proper rivots done. Not sure where you are based but most dealers have them and is a 10min job.

Well, cant complain about that for service. I rang Joe, the guy I bought it from. Said he'll be here in about an hour, thats 7:30pm tonight, with his technician, to check it out. Bringing some coils/resistors/bits and pieces. Pretty damn outstanding service...!

Yep, that is great. Especially if you have a meet on for Sat!.
Ramp is an easy fix, they do take a beating all the time.
Supercharger might just be dirty opto's, fuse or the control board for it (transistor)...All up easy fix

Well Joe and his tech Dom turned up. As they were testing the supercharger for speed, the gate snapped off altogether... Trying to get the supercharger gatepost off without taking the playfield was pretty damn difficult, but in the end succeeded, riveted it back on and got it back in. Marty, do you have some trick to get it off? They had a bugger of a time with it, mainly trying to undo the back grub screw (there's 2 of them) that hold the gatepost on.
Anyway, gate back on, and aligned properly and did a test. Definitely went faster, but still not quick enough. Dom wasn't happy so did further investigation and found that one of the magnets/coils wasn't working. After much tests with a multi, found out that a tip36 on the circuit board was stuffed, replaced that, retested, and voila, the supercharger is going like a bloody demon now. That coil must have been out the whole time since I bought it as its never been this quick, absolutely flies now...!
They fixed up a few other minor issues as well, and they are also looking into my multiball release post. I found out that the multiball is supposed to be released slowly one after another, not ALL at the same time. Apparently the post is binding on the way up, so once it goes down to release 1, it cant get back up quick enough before they're all gone. Anyone else experienced this?

Yes, street cred returned! :) Looked bad at one stage, said they were going to have to take it back to the shop. All sorted now, its better than ever, and the supercharger is just mad... :)

I've always done it with the playfield out. Takes about 10 min to remove and makes life so much easier (if you've got a stand).
The the post - most likely the coil sleeve. Thats a job you can do yourself and again 10 min of work. (power off and unplugged of course).

Yeah, that would be why Marty. We had no cradle to put it on, unless it went back to the shop, so to do it with the playfield still in was a major pain in the rear.
Are you able to point me in the direction of the coil sleeve for the multiball. I've really got no idea what I'm supposed to be looking for. Any help appreciated if you get some free time to reply.

Nino's world famous stand (patent pending!)
The coil sleeve (tubing) is part number 03-7066-3
Maybe buy the spring for it too - part number 10-135. (if old one looks OK then leave)

Thanks heaps for the links Marty. Downloaded that manual as well, very handy to have in PDF format, the pin came with a manual, maybe its the same.
I'm now going to order those parts from RTBB, and hopefully solve the multiball drama forever! Thanks mate, greatly appreciated...

I just changed a transister for my supercharger too, kept bnlowing fuse 103.
My average supercharger test time is 76, rocking along!
My multiball post used to do the same, rebuilt with new coil sleeve fixed the problem.

Forget to mention - when you drop the bracket assembly away from the underside of the playfield might pay to clean the shaft which goes into the coil.
I use the croc type isocol-alcohol which you can get from Safeways or a chemist & a clean cloth!.

Damn, how did you get your supercharger time so fast ktm?!
Thanks for the tip Marty. I've ordered the parts and will give the shaft a thorough clean before putting it back together.

I pulled it apart about 2 years ago and cleaned it all up. The rivets holding the diverter were worn and needed to be re-peened down to lock it in the correct place solidly. When I reinstalled I made sure the diverter sat in exactly the correct position so the ball would travel around its arc smoothly and locked into place.

Thanks ktm, think I'll pull mine down and sort it properly, once and for all. The ball still whacks the rivets on the way past the diverter, so thats got to slow it down a fraction. I just did a test on it before, and time is now in the mid 90 - 100 mark, so definitely an improvement. Goal is to get it down under 10, so the ball is just a blur... :)
I also put a couple of drops of WD40 on the multiball hold/release shaft until, the new parts arrive. Fixed the problem straight away, but I'll do the replacement when the parts arrive. Now it even releases at timed intervals when the game ends if there are any balls left in the chute.

Just be sure to clean the WD40 off everwhere before you install the new parts or you will be back to square one in no time...!

Thanks Marty, will be giving it all a thorough clean when the parts arrive. The WD40 was just a stopgap to have everything working properly for when it no doubt gets a bit of attention tonight. The clear plastic support stand that holds up the redline mania and supercharger lights above the supercharger entry snapped off last night. I made a new one out of aluminium this morning, solid as. I have a new one getting made up by Joe in lexan.
