I also think that because its Linux based you could possibly 'ghost' your mates Nucore setup and runup that ghost'ed hdd in your machine, with the Nucore USB dongle of course.
Although I've never tried it you most likely could. You would want to make sure you're using the same motherboard otherwise you would probably have driver issues.
