Looks like a powdercoat.
Agree with you on the orange looking a bit off, swinks.
If it were me, I probably would have preferred it to blend in to the existing artwork (blue) rather than stand out.
There's a CV with purple powdercoat trim in the background of one of the pics - pretty sure GAP (a retail pinball restorer in the US did that one). Dunno about that colour scheme either.....
