ok so tomorrow i will be working on this problem a bit more, my thoughts are to start from the main board on the j2..test the (d4 hold) and the (d5 on) with a multi meter.... not sure what to look for but im guessing if this will tell me the voltages... then test the 1q and 2q to see if anything looks odd... then test the q5 and q6... my guess is one of these switches is stuck on then powering the IRL540 to stay on too.... does this sound about right or am i on the wrong track?
What should i be looking for on the multimeter to tell me something has gone wrong with a part?

Adam.
