and if you dont want to waste to much money trying, start with a cheaper older machine. plus dodgy old machines are still fun.
but if you are new it would be worth looking for a working project, that way you arent instantly over your head, you can see what you need to fix because you can play it. that way you can do the playfield cleanup and cab cleanup and get the experience of changing the odd lazy coil or replacing a dodgy flipper switch and what not. rather than having to try and deal with buggered boards
