Thanks for your reply.
   I've cut down the front legs and fitted the adjuster so now I can have it level sloped towards the pins or towards me.   Having it level still needs a fair old throw but is way better.  I have the shuffle alley wax and its amazing the puck slides about 30cm without it sprinkle the alley with the wax (seriously feels like beach sand) and it slides the whole length.

As for the resetting issue.  The motor cam has one notch cut out which is almost quarter of the cam.   Has two switches but both are open during the notch and closed when turning. 

  I had an idea this arvo that maybe the pins are to tight so ill disconnect them and see if it makes a cycle then.

    Fingers crossed because once that's done I can start the fun bit the restore ;)
