Looks like the coil is the "Magnet Slide" - Coil number 24 driven by transistor Q25 (please correct me if I am wrong).
I would be checking this out - maybe the easiest way would be to remove the wire at Pin 1 of J6 on the driver board and see if the coil still locks on?
