Mike/Homepin had a very good deal on fuses that are used in pinball machines.  Not sure if he still has any sets available but I would highly recommend a set if he has any left.  They were great value and everything you will more than likely need will be in the kit.

Sounds like you learnt to always check fuses with a DMM as well.  It is the only way to go.
