As you said, definitely a personal preference thing. For example, I am about to repaint my Black Hole, and Tim is currently restoring the playfield. Taking account of the purchase price of the base game, the dollars and time spent doing the electronics mods, the failed playfield restoration in the US, the cost of the current playfield resto, etc - this game will owe much, much more than it would be worth to sell (although it will be pristine when done, so who knows....). I guess the point is, if the game is a genuine keeper for you (as BH is for me), then a "no expense spared" restoration if not about what it owes at the end, but about what the finished game means to you.
